I've got perscription lenses in Mako frames and the lenses came from OPSM at Rockingham City. They are the only people who supply prescription lenses like mine to the Navy at HMAS Stirling and these are specifically made for the navy, much darker and an excellent polarised lens. No manufacturer can come close to these. They cost a tad more, but gee they were worth it.

Cheers
Dale

Hi Dale,

You will probably find that OPSM are contracted by the Navy to make all their prescription spectacles. You will also find that all the lenses they sell are available at any other optical dispenser, as OPSM get their lenses from the same manufacturers as everyone else. You can specify how dark you want your lenses and which colour you want to any Optical Dispenser. Again Polarising can be done through any Optical outlet.

It is just a matter of asking for what you want and if you are not happy let them know until they get it right. Australian standards will not allow any sunglass to be tinted above 90% as this then cuts out too much visible light. Most reasonable quality sunglass fram will take an optical prescription lens, however, if the frame has too much of a curve then it can be difficult to fit a lens into it as too much distortion is created in the lens.

Shop around and see who offers the best price and service

Cheers,

Mim

G'day Ms MiM, Thanks for that. I got my lenses donkeys years ago and I went for what they told me at the time. Do I smell a con?
But nun the less, these are an excellent lens and hopefully soon, I can get some laser treatment that will see me able to use some of the more stylish sunnies. But Mako's will be my first option I reckon.

Cheers
Dale

Thanks guys for steering me towards Spotters

I bought 'em yesterday and they are so awesome!

Looking into the water is like looking into a great big saltwater pond the detail is incredible.

I went to a surf shop and bought some of those wetsuit wrap thingo's that go around the back of your head and stop your sunnies from falling off, if you havent got them have a look at some cause they are only $4-00 and are great.

I have had so many el cheapo pairs of sunnies and finally I have a decent pair and I'm just sorry I waited so long to "see the light"
