Smile The super punt

Well after looking around for a while and then discussing my ideas for a super punt entry, I found a hull and bought it on the spot.

Its a 10ft Cleveland v hull. Okay not a punt but still a boat.

It has been used twice since new, has no dings, scratches or anything. Tho only thing I will be rid of is the old marine ply on the transom. Still nice and silver.

Best thing about it was the price. $400
Just rang the guy from the ad, checked it out after work and will pick it up saturday morning. Comes with a set of oars and 3 lifejackets too.

Here is the beast

Time for the fitout... Hell yeah

Thanks mate. Will leave it for a while as it isn't my highest priority but will look into it for the future. How much would I be looking at for a navy blue 2pack paint job- external sides only not the hull bottom or inside the boat?

paint Job

Hi Brad,
You've got some work ahead of you.
I have just had my dingy painted. It's in 2 pack. Cost $600.00. They have to acid wash it compleley rub it all back and paint it. Mine has a different colour strip on it so that cost a bit more.Pick it up tonight.
Will post a photo when I get one and work out how to post it.
Ron.

Well I took the boat to the local ally welders after serious emailing to don during the time the site was off line.

Good news- the materials are costing $20

Bad news- the welding is setting me back $180 for three hours

At least I know it is being done right and it is guaranteed. Beats falling through the floor halfway into a comp.

will post pics on friday or saturday when I pick it up.

Pete,

You mentioned you're trying to get away from it, but what's the going rate with cars? Whole thing plus doors etc... 2-3k for basic colours?

cheers
Chris

Pete if I acid wash it, and rub it back before bringing it to you, are you able to spray it and dry it within a day?

I do 50 hour weeks at the moment and the big boss wants us to do 60's so time is of the essence.

Thinking of possibly even doing it myself at the company workshop- what does it really require in terms of drying etc. If the ally welding is much more I might just end up covering it with stickers.

I dont know much about cars and painting ect but i do know that its best to do all your painting in a temp controlled room so the paint doesnt go 'orange peally' ect. I wouldnt think you could get it done in a day...but then i dont know anything about this area.

cheers, Nathan
