Cool New Okuma Reels!!!!

Went into one of the local tacklo's on the way home today, to find them unpacking the new Okuma shipment - with two new reel models

The first one was the 'Metaloid' (see pic below), very similar to the 'Epix' but with a 5:1 retrieve ratio (compared to 6.3:1), bigger (waterproof) drag washers and more.... Suffice to say I was very, very impressed - the only downside was that the smallest size they had was in the '30' range - a tad big for my needs Bream spinning

If you want to see an online review have a look here:

The other one was the 'Californian' - but don't hold your breath to get one, apparantly the store I was in is the only store in Aus. that will be selling them

It's a bit down market from the 'Epix' or the above Metaloid in terms of bearing quantity but still pretty bloody impressive and it comes in a '20' size - that's more like it

They were doing a combo with one of the Okuma rods (in the Bream spinning weight range) and the Californian for under $200 - and it felt pretty good I haven't really looked at the Okuma rods before, but this one would've given my Procaster a run for it's money

Now I've just got to convince the better half I need more gear

Cheers,
