this is also true and a large concern another is a few boats in close proximity all running the unit at diffent levels and sounds. i am clealy against it in tournament fishing and think the cons far outweigh the pros of it

dont some lures have rattles which send out sound waves to attract fish?
come on guys lets just take a chill pill
tell me, if you came up with the idea and had produced this product you wouldnt be trying to promote it and make some money......yes some of it is hype and some of it is probably true that it turns fish on but untill we see a few here and see what it does we are only guessing so i am open to see this thing before i make a comment

"The HydroWave is a patented electronic sound device that emits the natural sounds of bait fish and predatory fish feeding on them. Together the sounds produce an instinctive response in nearby predatory fish such as large mouth bass that can hear the sounds and feel the vibrations of the sound waves in the water. By doing so, the fish are drawn in the direction of the device eager to strike any bait it finds."

Just doesn't seem right IMO.

Nah , I don't agree with it either. The thing is that I don't want to use one as well, I really think it is going passed the line and I would feel like I am cheating myself. I have days when I cant catch them easily but I would never put down a burley bomb and fish next to it in a comp, kinda similar when you are trying to alter the fishes behavior using an electronic device. Other than throwing lures into the water to try to catch them I don't think there should be any other deliberate influences by angler on the fishes behaviour.

To be honest I don't like the thought of fishing comps against guys that are using these.

That just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it

Any chance there would be a ruling on the use of these in comps before the start of the season?

Interesting topic, good arguments either side.

Cheers
Chris

I'll get one, for the same reason I'll get the HB 360 - I'm a tech whore who wants all the latest toys to play with

I know I don't really need one - I've been playing Lilly Allen through my stereo for years and she certainly helps catch fish, particularly that 'thankyou very much' song, plus it has the added bonus of annoying any other anglers within earshot.

Different artists work on different waterways. The Clarence River is Jason Mraz water for sure. Nothing for hours then 'The Remedy' kicks on and I bag out in 6 minutes.

Sydney Harbour is Hilltop Hoods fo' sho'. All the background noise needs something a bit punchy to get over the top of it. 'Stopping All Stations Restrung' has turned plenty of comps around for me.

I'm not going to give away years of accumulated sound related secrets but I will give one up:

Ever slapped a lure on the water to remove weed? And seen fish react to the sound? Try this - Next time you're in a population dense arena and can see fish feeding high in the water column slap the water with your lure. IF the fish don't instantly spook (happens about half the time) check out where they're looking and the mood they've just developed.

There is no way the Hydrowave should be banned, and I believe plenty of the nay sayers here are trying to shoot it down from an 'awww crap, can't afford one better ban it' angle than anything else.

If it makes you a more confident angler I say bring it on.

Dunno about other people, pretty sure the majority could. I can afford one, still wouldn't use it if someone gave me one.

HOWEVER!

The unit seems to be vented and longevity in a salt enviroment is yet to be really tested. I'd hate to see it internally corrode in a year............

AND!

Having only 6 sounds and having to get one for salt and one for fresh is an absolute crock of $h1t. Seriously??? SD card input and you can't just have all sounds on the one unit.

Plenty of us fish the briny and the sweet alot. That's my purchase stopping point and I think it would stop plenty of others. Forking out for one unit is all good, having to get another one just so you can access more sounds????????? We are talking about a 'revolutionary' new device and you can't put 12 different sounds on it, or Lily Allen???? PLEEEEESE?????????

i dont think wheather people can or cant afford it is even a factor really... its more the int of technology going to far in sports and it only takes something like this to ruin a sport or atleast put a ding in it.

i love all the bling on my boat and to be honest id feel half blind to fish without my hdsi after becoming almost relient on it. it does honestly play the biggest role in were and how i will fish each different scenario, however there has to be a point were a line is drawn

On the other thread its about 48 (ban) votes to 28 (allow), me thinks it should not be allowed if so many have voted against its use in comps

To be honest I think some rules have already been broken.

Sorry my statement didn't really make a lot of sense. Price has nothing to do with this debate.

bobbys on the money. as fishing evolves as a sport so must its anglers this is fair but the technology side of things should only be aloud to be evolved so much in our sport or it wont be much of a sport at all.

every sport has its banned substances or equipment why should fishing be any different? hydrowave should be the start of this movement.

its the skills and senses that you learn and put to pactrice that evolve you as an angler and it should stay that way not flicking a switch. a few people have mention sounders ect, sounders simply show you the image depth contrast temp or whatever it maybe your after they do not in anyway change the fishs perception way of thinking or mood. youv heard of sight casting or sight fishing? why not go sight fishing with your hydrowave...? same deal..
