Hydrowave

hey everyone just wondering if anyone has used or had much to do with hydrowave and the effects on the fishing it was?

iv just read abit of a speel by jason wilhelm and carl jocumsen on how they both have been using this technology to great success, im eager and very interested to know if anyone else has had any personal experiences and not just what the hydrowave web page says.

If hydrowave is as good as its claiming i know there will be alot of arguments against this statement but i honestly think it should be banned from tournament angling. tournament angling should be soley upto the angler to find the fish and tune into what is going to fire them up not a peice of technology, any response on this situation i feel would be valuable

Cheers Zane.

Yep this is going to open a can of worms big time.
I was watching a guy use it on a bassmaster comp, he was getting no bites and so he changed to program of this Hydrowave and had them jumping in the boat soon after. And i have read on forums that if you dont have one dont bother entering.
So what woud be the rationale about allowing them in comps or not. We have the lure and fly only rule, and the no berlying rule. So what is putting something into the water to attract fish to your location. Berley doesnt have to be chopped up mullies or prawns as much as it can be an oil soaked rag, so the realm of a hydrophonic underwater attractant can possibly come under the definition of berleying the surrounding water to attract fish to your location.
Interesting times i think.

although I have no experience with Hydrowave, it is a good discussion topic.

Where do you draw the line? One tournament angler may not have the funds to have a bass boat, huge motor, top of the range fish finder and gps etc etc, whereas another may have the latest in sounder technology and be able to sound up schools as if they were using goggles and a snorkel.

Yes "turning" the fish on is taking it to the next level, but as far as technology goes, the tournaments are already full of anglers using technology to their advantage. Anglers dont just find a good looking bank and hope there are fish on it (although some may have to), but generally they can sound it up first and the surrounding area with side scans and such.

It all just depends on where you draw the line, but tournament fishing these days is already heavily influenced by technology as far as I see it.

they are all valid points G however i think this time this particular peice of technology has pushed the boundaries of what should and should not be accepted in tournament angling.

Yea sure you can sound up some structure or side scan a fish you can do this all day just because the fish is there doesnt mean hes going to smack the first presentation your throw towards it. we'v all had instances of seeing fish on the sounder or swiming by the side image and not touching anything, this new technology is completely different and will hugely impact the skill and technique invloved which makes tournament angling such a demanding and entertaing sport.

I'd be wary of it turning them off just as easy as it turns some fish on...

In my opinion an "Angler" should be able to catch fish in all sorts of situations using their own skills/knowledge, no need for this kind of stuff.

That is the essence of the sport for me any way, half of the fun is in the finding / getting them to eat your silly little bit of plastic.

Nope, hate the things.. Makes me sick just thinking about it, and to think i'm only young and if they allow this stuff.. Hate to see what they allow in the future.

I highly doubt they will be allowed though.

I hear from people in the know that the ABT guys have already got them on their boats!

Seems the USA bass guys are all using them after the same sort of questions were asked a few years ago...
