Australia's Top 10 Bream Lures
Hi Fellas,
I am conducting some research into Austs top 10 bream lures and i hope you might be able to help me out. I am trying to poll over 200 fishos from all walks of life, to get a good gauge on what we the people believe to be our favorite bream lure. It can be anything artificial from a plastic, hard bods, poppers, blades, vibes or flies etc It doesn't matter about your experience levels, i want feedback from bream pros all the way to first time lure users and everything in between. I am fascinated by fads and would love to see if there is truly a standout performer amongst us all. The results will be displayed in an article in Fishing World Magazine and i have had over 80 people participate so far. I would really love your help. What i need is your top 10 lures in order. I know its a hard thing to judge but try and be as accurate as you can, based on how well the lure produces for you overall. Thanks everyone. |

Hi Dan,
Thanks for that but this isn't the sort of thing i am after. That poll is for hard bods only, and only lures of the site sponsors. I am looking at all types of artificials and participants from all fishing circles, not just bream pros who will plug their sponsors. The article i will be writing is more an experiment in social conditioning and fads more than plugging 10 winning lures. reckon you might be able to rustle up 10? |

![]() You'd be better off asking the pros what their favourite sponsors lures are and how they work them would be a more interesting read IMO the favourite lure thing has been done to death on forums already and is stale ![]() Zen |

Highlighting how lures work for bream has been done to death too mate. That is stale.
This is not going to be a run of the mill top 10 breakdown, but i can't tell you what i am doing specifically as it will ruin the whole piece. I have done this through 4 other forums, polled tackle store owners and staff on best selling lures, bream pros and close associates and this is the only community where there has been anything other than positive support. I was directed here by someone who suggested i might be able to get some good responses. I am not a bream fishing guru or a bream diehard so i need your input here. If you wish to help me out i thank you. If your skeptical, don't participate. Either way. This article is going to happen. |

Mate you haven't read my post.
Dan suggested i go and look at the poll on bream.com.au and i said that poll is ONLY from lures of THEIR site sponsors so the poll was not good for what i am trying to do. I dont want skewed results. I want to open this to all fishos and all lures from any manufacturer. |

Can you tell us why you are doing this? Why 200? I gather you are a journo of some sort? Seems a little odd to not care if the respondants are experienced or not - even if they've only used one lure. What would the point of that sort of article be if you're polling people who have no experience. Seems like it would produce a meaningless article and if you are actually trying work out what's the best or most popular, then you should have some criteria that the survey is based around so that it has some meaning. You say you're interested in fads, best performing lures, most popular lures. i'd suggest they are not the same thing. How do you separate a fad from a good performer from some one who has only ever used 10 lures and lists them all?

Yes i am a journo and write for Fishing World. The whole emphasis is not to restrict myself who i speak with to TRY and get a balanced view. Predominantly, i have poled fishos with excellent experience and know a number of bream pros but i am reluctant to ask only pros as they will poll their sponsors lures. All good questions mate, and if your not comfortable, please don't feel obligated to participate

Now you're telling me the same guys are making Mags and Dvds Dont hold back on that stuff - The AFN brand has always been synonymous with quality fishing productions in Victoria. Dont think of it as plugging - if its about AFN - Its a "public service announcement" ![]() My introduction to AFN occurred 30 mins into my first bait session in Northern Westernport many, many moons ago . (High tide launch with no knowledge of the channels - and a time when sounders were for flashy DohDohDohDohDohDohs![]() ![]() At the 29min and 48sec mark everything was going good. 12 seconds later - we'd done ourselves a mischief on a mud bank .We were aiming for a hole, just off a bluff on French Island - in an over-loaded tinny with no tilt control on the motor. Best way to get there? - the general concensus of the pissed idiots polled was - as the crow flies ![]() ![]() The solution was - dig through the frozen pippies and pilchards we bought at PW's Fishing World, to find the map that PW said we'd be idiots not to buy ...........read the map......then put the arse of the fattest bloke on the boat in the anchor well to lift the motor out of the mud. Then once we got some pace up - just gun it till we hit the channel. The gummies werent there but we smashed the whiting.....I still have the indent of a sand anchor in my arse and finnished the day with wet socks ![]() Without the AFN map - it could have got very ugly .

She'll yell at me but it will be worth it. Yeah we make all kinds of things in the willy wonkers factory that is AFN. We even have this guy "walkingwithboys" or something that chips in with bream stuff every now and again. Off the back of another thread I know you have been rummaging through, I have documented the microvibe technique for all to see on the next Sports Fish DVD. Not a plug for the DVD but a plug for the handsome man who presents in it
