The only problem with going lighter is you'll get more hang ups on your guides. I'd run either 3 or 4lb fluro. I just got some 4lb sunline shooter invisible yesterday which I will run on the kirisame.

those are some decent rods and reals there. I was having a look at the shimano range and I took a liking to the raider soft plastics, I would have thought eva grips would be a better option but then again it would look like a abu veritas with a green blank.

thats what the reel came with. I usually use that reel for squidding, but decided to chuck it on that rod for the trip i did. Otherwise ill pair it up with a steez 2508.
The double handle isnt bad at all though, got used to it now.

Why do the squidding reels tend to have the double handle?

Also while I'm at it I need a cheap rod for the mrs this summer for fishing lightly waited prawns etc in estuaries. Can I set her up with a Paternoster rig on a 1-3kg trion or would it be worth buying a semi decent glass rod?

What are the characteristics of glass rods that make them better for bait?

Cheers hope someone can help me with this.

Okay for the double handle - the japanese use them so they can grab the handle easily after doing their crazy rod movement to impart action into their squid jigs I believe.
