Cardiffs are sweet reels. For trouting? Or you going to run it in the salt?

No .... I wish.

I strongly considered one for a while then went for a near-new caldia instead. I still think they are one of the nicest looking reels though. The fact that there is a shallow spool version is a big bonus for me. I do like the shimano reels.... running a stradic ci4+ at the moment ... I can see a cardiff in the upgrade path. Would like to hear in a years time or so how it goes in the salt as that was my only sllght reservation with them. I reckon it should be fine though

Really nice reel - 'grats on the purchase

They're a beauty, I've been considering one for a while. Lovely traditional trout gear colours

I'm pretty bipartisan on that. I use and own both.

M1 Carbine BFS Production rod.

Finally found time to post.
I'm sure many of you guys have seen the earlier prototypes and concepts. But here it is: The Skunkworks M1 Carbine. I'll leave questions and answers on another thread to but here's some pics.

The prototype used a recons components to verify the blank used but as you can see we kept it simpler and cleaner in the production version.

Will post up some more detailed closeups next post.

Sweet rod MCYL!
What sort of cast weights do you throw with that combo?

Thanks, it was kept minimalist without forgoing a bit of bling.

It goes on the water Tuesday but test casted 1/20oz jigs with small 2-3" placcies. Top ended at over 3/8oz as the guides accommodate leader knots. Will have a go at baycasting and micro jigs later on.
