Generally leave the plastic on the rod for the first few outings for the visual appearance. But, generally after that I would just remove the plastic and love the feel

Looks blingy and everything.. But not a fan of the exposed spool shaft
Have you noticed it gets wet under the spool?

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't think it would be a problem with the new certates with magseal, but it would be a problem with the old non magseal reels. If saltwater was to get into the anti reverse and stuff, wouldn't that create some problems? But the reel looks sweet mate.

Cheers,

I think we've both asked this before, noone seems to have any answers lol. I can't imagine it being any good for non-mag-seal reels as you mentioned

I'm wanting to get a finesse spool for my exist atm, but think I may just go with the older style rcs air spools.. There's extra bling and then there's a reel that still works properly.

might cause a few issues for those with bearing supported spools too.

Hmm never really looked at it that way..

But, its been done on reels before such as the flueger supreme etc...?
Unless they are sealed, I'm not sure how to put it.

But, I try my best for avoid any saltwater splashing onto my reel. SO, fingers crossed it all turns well.

Thanks,

pivot,
looks sweet with the rcs spool.
but like the others said, be aware of the fact that salt water will do alot of damage, the main thing i would be woried about is the shaft getting salt on it. that will cause the obvious corrosion but also scratch the crap out of the shaft (especially if its an alloy shaft-cant remember if the new luvias have a steel or alloy shaft?)
its not going to be a normal thing for water to get onto the reel there, but just be aware of it. like if youre underway in a boat and theres a bit of spray thats landing on the rods/reels, things like that.
looks good though

Used it in fresh a numbers of times. Not a single drop.
At the meantime it seems trustworthy. Will keep you up to date.

Always cover my reel with a cloth of something when on a boat. But, I'll be sure to wash it down after every saltwater cruise.
Thanks for the kind words
