Bio master or Sustain ?

Just about to get a Diawa Seajigger rated 8- 17 lb and thinking of getting either a Biomaster or Sustain . I do like the look of the new Sustains but I think the Biomaster replaces the old Twin Power which was also a good reel.
I'm looking at a 4000 size. Anyone have either or tried any of these two. Thanks

Sean

Biomaster has spare spool, more features, slightly heavier, slower gear ratio. Both have same drag and same capacity.

Had a look at Ray and Anne's online and there are Diawa Heartland reels on sale for $199. Although I've only really had Shimanos I hear these are pretty good as well.

the heartland used to be $320ish when they first came out so they were a price point competitior to the sustain/twin power. A 4000 sol could be a good match too. any reel from $200+ should give you a good working life if you look after it regardless of brand

Cheers Yak . I reckon I might just put a few different reels on the rod and see what feels right. I've had a few Stradics and am leaning toward the Shimano reels.

I picked up the Seajigger today and checked out both the 4000 size Biomaster and Sustain. The Sustain looks very nice but the Biomaster seems to turn a lot more freely than the Sustain . Both have the x ship feature and are of similar weight. Not too sure why one spins more freely than the other.

Help you out mate, the bio spins easier due to the slower retrieve ratio it has, at the end of the day between these reels it's only the different feel of the handles and the amount of line you wish to retrieve per crank of the handle.

I got a bio 1000 for very slow hardbody work, a sustain 2500 for blades etc out in the wind where you need to pick up line pretty fast between drops.

Cheers Matt. I'll probably go for the Sustain because I will probably throw metals as well as plastics and blades. It might be the better choice. Both reels are nice though.

I got the lightest model the 315 rated at 8 -17 lb . I really like the slim blank and minimal grips and binding.
