i understand that issue if buying from the manufacturer but if buying from a dealer i can't see the problem...

Whats the difference between that and say buying a certate from plat or megabass lures from ichiban?

Daiwa and froglies both have sole import rights for both of those products...

Not trying to start a war online. How ever , the way I've read and heard from agents, because America has a free trade agreement with Australia there is no issue in bringing in any new boats.

Correct me if I'm wrong some one ?

also tobymcclure, why new. you can get a second hand one for 1/2 price. also with less than 20 hours on motor.

Specially after the top bass tourno's have finished over there.

sponsors of top anglers want a new boat each year.

worth a look.

also Steve Morgan, Kris Hickson just brought in 2 awesome new boats.

PM Steve I am sure he will answer what he can.

Tony
Tony , i wanted brand new because so many of the boats ive looked at have had things ive wanted and other things ive tried to steer clear of. Some have dual console, but only a single axle trailer. Some have dual axel trailers, but only one console ( yes can be added on some but not all. ) some have maxxum but not a fortrex electric.)

But it got to a point where it was about 50 landed, so ive had to go back to the beggining, and now ive found a couple im happy with as a trade off.

Not always. My Ranger Trailer was 2.48 so just snuck inside the width restriction. All I had to do was get a permit to move the trailer and get it over the pits. If you can, find a yard that will take delivery and will help make any mods required to get it over. Speak to the manufacturer as well. For WA, I got Ranger to do most mods and all I had to do was have the chains added once it got here.

I know it's different for each state, just be sure to check what you need.

Bear i take it your ranger was brand new ? that ws one of the things that drew to rangers was that they could make my trailer 100% compliant from factory for me

Dad will call you tonight, its just about asking the boat manufacturer too see if they can give you the numbers beforehand. Either that or contacting customs to see what you can do.

Yep, brand new. Bought mine through Sport Fishing in Sydney. Great guys to deal with and Ranger were amazing.

Pretty sure Josh brought the 3 phoenix boats in for Steve, Chris and Tristo.

I dont think they did it themself.

If you are worried about trailers you can get one made in the us to our standards and sent to the Ranger factory at Arkansas. My trailor was done that way but I did buy it here through the same company Bear got his. I have a aluminum trailer that is much better than a lot of the trailors that you see the imported bass boats come over on.

To my knowledge the Australian distributor can refuse entry of a new boat that they have not sold in this country. I think they would need to know about it to stop it and I dont think customs are going to track down the distributor and inform them of the imported boat. If some how you where very unlucky and did get refused I think you will get stuck with the return costs.

Cheers
Chris

Jacko , I did exactly that I rang customs and after a really boring phone call. Customs can supply any one with a serial number , so brand new wouldn't be a problem. Just had to start again ended up getting out of control.

The Phoenix boats , steve would obviously know what happened , but I gathered josh bought them in and with out a trailer . ??

Yes, josh got in all 3 boats and put them on easy tow trailers.
The cost of getting all 3 im sure would have also brought the price of the import cost down.
