Light Tackle Salmon Action...Part Two!

Well after last weeks fun on the salmon, I just had to get back out there and get amongst it again.

This time Grant and myself hatched a plan to see if we could find some more of these southern sportfish and tempt them into eating our offerings.

We launched the boat early Saturday morning and proceeded to make our way to our chosen destination in the pitch black darkness...

Upon our arrival, we started to search for the tell tail signs of a feeding school of salmon.
We didn't have to wait long, in fact it only took about 30 seconds after we both had cast our lures out the back of the boat, with Grant commenting "I think I just seen something swim past the boat?!" And within a split second of Grant saying that both our rods buckled over!! Double hook up baby

My hook up was a brief affair as I quickly got smoked. While Grant was battling away with his fish I retied on another leader and lure. I quickly belted out another cast, gave the Imakatsu kirikaze kicker eater2 one twitch and came up tight to a very solid fish. This fish pulled some string, and after all most locking up the drag and palming the reel, this fish just could not be stopped and ended up bricking me on a near by bommie.

I was gutted two cast...Two smoking's...Two lures down

Grant managed to land his fish.

With Grant landing his fish, I once again quickly retied on another lure and belted out another cast...This time finally managing to be able to land one!

But we had our suspicions that there may be some other hard fighting brutes mixed in with these salmon.

With the sun now nice and high, it was on for young and old as all we could see was a massive school of fish sitting right below our boat...These fish were extremely hungry and full of power!

Getting our arms stretched was the order of the day

We had found ourselves a massive school and the best part was we had this all to our selves for about 3 hours until the other boats cottoned on to what we were up to!

These salmon were big and on the light tackle the battles were epic!!

It really tested out the stamina of both the angler and fish with some of the battles going on for a good 20-40mins as the fish refused to ever give up!
Watching them dance across the surface and getting a few metres out of the air was insane and a sight that we wont forget in a hurry.

The harder we fished the more we found, it was just a crazy day!

This was the result of a double hook up that had us both dancing all around the boat! Insane amounts of awesome, good ole fun, and that's what its all about...Having fun

The conditions was perfect, crystal clear water, sunny skies and plenty of hungry fish...All though after three insane hours of having the action all to ourselves the other boats finally moved in, but all was good as there was plenty of action to be shared and had by all!

Was fantastic to see the young lads getting out and amongst the action as well...This young fella was killing it on the bream gear, but I think he may or may not have had intensions of bringing in the sharks...

Everywhere we looked, people were hooked up to these hard pulling sportsfish. These two lads enjoying a double hook up.

Highlight was watching another boat with four fellas on board all hooked up!
The action was pure chaos but in an awesome way. All you could hear was woops and cheers of laughter as everyone was having a fantastic time.
