It is indeed a very solid fish. I don't think I will be able to beat this one for quite a while!

Insane day, that's for sure buddy...Doesn't get much better then that!!

Haha, yeah watching all that braid disappear in a matter of seconds was sheer crazy, I thought I was going to get spooled for sure!!

"DRIVE THE BOAT...ARRR, I'm ABOUT TO GET SPOOLED, ARRRR FLOG IT, CHASE AFTER IT GRANT...DRIVE THE BLOODY BOAT!''
Good times indeed.

Sure is a day that I wont forget either mate.
Lol, your rod sure did cop a flogging.

I've got some more plans in the pipe line mate, I'll give you a call soon and see what we can organise.

Cheers for both of these reports Sexton, fantastic pics. Some bloody thumping fish mate. I've pulled a few honkers from the surf, but on the light gear like that is something I dream about. Got me keen as for some salmon action at Elliston during Easter.

Thanks mate, glad you are enjoying the reports.

Light tackle sports fishing on these incredible fish is so much fun, I froth so hard thinking about it, just such a fun fish and with the size of them this year it makes the fishing quite special and very enjoyable.
Would love to get my daughters onto a few, I reckon the look on there pretty little faces when hooked up to these brutes would be pure gold!

I think that sounds like a plan...Now to convince the wife into letting them come out to the deep blue in the boat with me...I'm sure she wouldn't say no.

That's the sort of fishing action you need for kids. If they have to wait ten minutes for a bite they start losing interest pretty quick!!
I love fishing with the kids, but I'm not sure mine could handle salmon that big though.
First time I took my daughter out in the tinny she was a bit older than three. I said we would go and catch a fish. She took it literally. After she caught one fish she said "that was fun, lets go now, I've caught a fish"!!

Haha, how awesome are they. Kids and there fantastic little minds. Love the way they think, if only I could be a kid again...Well, I'm pretty much a big kid

Yeah not to sure how my daughters will go handling a big salmon, they are only 9 and 7. I guess there is only one way to find out.
My oldest would go okay I reckon after a bit of encouragement, she does pretty well in the fishing department, though my youngest would probably need a bit of help.
I can already imagine the smiles on there faces after landing one of them.

You seriously landed these fish on a 1000 size stradic? If so we may as well give up on buying larger reels altogether.
