Most spool supports go all the way down to near enough the jesus nut. Have tried putting a stella shaft seal and cap on a few other reels and when oscillation went down it met and bound up.
But otherwise if a brand new nut was machined from scratch and the top of the pinion shaved yes - would have to be alike the Daiwa set up.
But i see no real point in it all - both mechanically or financially.
