I dont know whether I agree with him but I understand the impulse to use heavier leaders

I've done similar tests with dead baits and leaders for similar results for sharks off the beach except it was 60 and 100lb, the bit that's always bugged me is would the heavier bait get taken if there was no nearby alternative.
