Well it looks like ill be going up to Port Macquarie in a few months for a 2 week trip so I’m looking for a fast speed rock spin stick.
It has to be 3-5kg, 7-8ft long, has to be able to cast 5-15 gram metals and handle a 2500 Daiwa reel or the equivalent 4000 Shimano reel. The reel has to be able to handle a bit of crap and have a GOOD drag as its going to be chasing Rat kings and Big salmon. I dont want to spend much more than $300.
I should say that I don’t want to match a Shimano reel with a Daiwa stick or vice versa.
So if any of you rock fisho's could offer some help it would be much appreciated.
cheers, Nathan

i would chase something like a shimano stradic spin (7' - 2-6kg 5-25g cast range) with a penn affinity 4000 which would be within your budget...
actually that stradic's only $85 @ various tackle shops....
could then spend $200+ on a reel....
does it have to diawa or shimano reels?
the smaller banax's are quite reliable.....
Hi Nath,
I've got the BD WaveRider with a 4000 Fleuger, but have my eye on a Sustain. Great rod for that sort of thing.

Yeah baby, beast of a rod, and every bit is power backed up with more power. Truly is an insane rod the MegaButt - worth a look at worst Nath, retail around $260 in WA, but you could use it for everything thats pulls hard, even offshore. Might be a lil strong though for what your after, will chuck slices to 40gms.
cheers
I'm with BB and Richo. The Nitro magnum butt kicks ass. They are a great rod and have power to spare. For the money you are talking about I don't think you could go wrong with one of these.
Cheers, Dror

Some other fans hey!!! The have a whippy enough tip for throwing larger soft placcies, which I am sure would appeal to you Nath. Although I have not tried they are probably not the best Popper chucka but perfect for a Tango Dancer;) They are also 2 piece, good for transport but does not detract from the rod at all. They come with Alconites and as Richo said at $250 odd bucks they are a bargain for what you are getting HTH

magnum butt or for something a tad cheaper a sic stick bluewater range 4-6kg stick for around 150 would cut it too.
I have a raptor, not really suitable for rock spinning and a mate has a stradic which doesn't really cut it.
Or you could consider a wilson live fibre 8ft 8kg stick if you are after something a tad heavier.
