I was just wondering what are a few of teh essentials needed for luring the Nong. What ind of SP work best, what jigs head suit normal conditions. What HB are produicing the most breambo's at the moment? And just any other general information

Rohan,
Can I give you one piece of advice, have a look at what has been working for YOU and then try something a little different. Before long you'll be catching on lures you never gave the time of day before. There is nothing like trying new techniques etc and having them work for you.

Here's I few items I find useful:
- commitment
- patience
- persistence
- an ounce of luck
I don't think there's any need to outlay big $$ on SX40's or whatever just because someone else says they worked. Trying out your own techniques has to be more fun anyway, and more gratifying when you strike some success.
Then again, I'm waiting for those Salmo's to show up in the online store (hint, hint).

I didn't catch anything on SP today ( 2hours casting around the banks. Struddy still a virgin, unless you count a 3cm fish :D ) swapped to bait ( :( ) and pinned two 35cm bream. Both small but fun never the less :)

Good call Bear, there is nothing better than just plain experience, using different techniques and lures, and analyzing why they work on some occasions and not others. Being told exactly what to do and not taking time to think about what you are doing and for what reason is a big mistake. You need to be versatile to fish all situations, as no two days are the same.

All true , everyone has there ownfishing style and choice of lure . each lure will imitate in different ways , depending on the action and retrieve applied to it . A lure that may be working the good for one angler , may not even produce a hit to the next angler. This can be for many a different factors , rod length , reel size , and reflex action , only a few factors that can be taken into account . Maybe chose a lure you like , try it in a number of different tidal situation , at a specific spot you know produces Bream on baits , if all else fails , vary up your retrieves on the same lure , but dont give up on it until your happy that youve given the lure all its worth .. If this fails get a another lure and reaet the before . Maybe once you get used to your Strudy youll be more comfortable with your hardware ,and your fishing style ,,

Try to match what they are feeding on. eg. bass yab's, worm's, mussel's, baitfish, shrimp's etc.

Try natural colour's like brown crawdad, amber, muscadine, watermelon, pumpkin seed etc. Try paddeltail's if the fish are spooky. These are quieter. ;)

SX-40's and strike pro pygmie's seem to be the pick of the lot at the moment. Use these when the fish are touchy.

im doing something right :D I got crawdad and pumpkinseed fat grubs, getting amber and motor oil gold.

I am als getting SX40 as soon as I can muster up enough money. 301 and 307 will be my choice.

Crawdad ain't a bad colour at all mate. I tried one out this arvo in the bay. Caught a few pinkie's, flattie's and a couta! :D

I believe one of the most important things to being a good angler is to be able to go to a new spot and be able to adapt easily without the help of others.
If you can go in there and observe the local area and work out what the main food source is and then put on the lure that represents that food source then your half way there.
When ever the fishing is slow i tend to try to observe and look around and take notice of the little things around you in the water to pick up what your doing wrong or maybe so your ready for next time. For example while trout fishing one day the trout may be feeding on bugs on the surface which you can clearly see fluttering about but then somedays the trout may not be rising at all and you might notice alot of minnow around and they may just be chasing them down instead.

Hehehe im sure this is way off the subject of what you wanted but yer.
I would try small natural coloured lures such as ecogears. From the previouse posts i have read from locals....

Remeber dont just look at the bream around the pylons look at whats actually attatched and falling off them.
