Hi Everyone
Just wondering what would be the thinking behind a lure that is a absolute classic with bream. Take into account design, size, floating ability, movement, sound, colours etc.
I was was wondering as there is no specific lure on the market targetted at bream (Solely). Most lures have a general application that applies to all fish. What would you design in a bream killer lure?
I know lures have been altered and are general imressions of something bream want to eat. Just wondering as there are a lot of bream nuts here who could create a ultimate lure.
Cheers

I am currently experimenting with lure building. I've got six different lures made at the moment. I plan to adjust each till i find the ultimate lure, then i'll make a whol stack of them.
In general i'd say it should be about 5cm long, not too fat, tight action, a slow rise and dive to about 1.5m.

Guys,
I think you're barking up the wrong tree if you think you can make one lure for all situations.
Personally, I think you need to be making them a bit more specific. There are occasions where you're going to want sinking lures as well as deep diving lures.
The key, I believe, is to be flexible and have a range.

The problem with "ONE" bream lure is the fact that you need one that dives different depth's. At my home patch the Kalgan , a dive depth of 2.5 meters is mandatory (most of the time).
Style yes , collour yes but depth no.

Bear is right. Sometimes the lure you are using only suits the the hole or snag you are casting at and a change is required often, thats why switched on anglers will carry a few outfits rigged with different lures. And there are lures out there that are designed specifically for bream. Take my Palaemon for instance Starlo and Buschy gave me a list of attributes they wanted in a lure and after six months of trial and error I had given them what they wanted. They needed a 50mm lure with almost neutral bouyancy and the lure had to rise tail down in a submissive act rather than back up in the Breams face aggressively. Bream as you known are a rather shy species at times and they found that these small subtleties could mean the difference between success and failure. Good luck with those lures, after ten years I can still assure you they are great fun to make.

Talking about hard bodies have any of you blokes tried putting
glitter or polarflash ect to make hard bodys more attractive.
Bushy & Steve Starlings reported in the latest issue of fly life was
that there main product for tying flys for bream was Polarflash or Sparkleflash.
Just a thought.

Hi daws
I havent tried tying on a bit of sparkleflash, polar flash or any flash at the moment. I have thinkered around with a beard of polarflash on my plastics. It does act a little like a weed guard. Wouldnt the material tied on diminish the action of the lure?
hi everyone Else
i was was wondering what goes into the thought process of designing a lure, scientific, hard yakka, local knowledge, Expert knowledge? im not asking you to spill the company secrets but a insight into lure making, please.
I do agree that a lure cant be solely target at bream as the lure i representing a swimming minnow either relastically or giving the impression or down right annoying.
Cheers
