i've just purchased some lures off the on-line store, couple of oargees, attack and sneakys.most of the hb's i've been using have a metal tow point and i've been using main line straight to a mini clip,no probs.the sneakys have a poly tow point and the pack recommends tying direct to tow point with no clips.do you tie a normal uni knot, use a leader and loop knot or ignore instructions and use a clip anyway.i thought tying direct to lure would impede action as it does with other lures.any ideas ???

Hey Matty
Tie an open uni knot. That is an Uni knot, which looks like a loop knot. You just tighten the tag end, real tight so that it takes a lot of pressure to make the knot slide. It will occasisionally slide but it is still better that tieing a loop knot of lesser strength.
It is in the Bream Bible, availiable on the online store, it is well worth buying as it contains a wealth of info for all your bream fishing needs.

PS, sorry if it sounds like an advert mate!, but it really is worth looking at!:D

I'd use a loop knot, this allows for the action of the lure. I tried one with a mustad fly clip and it didnt have the same action. I don't think it has as much freedom to move with the fly clips and almost no movement if you are doing a straight uni knot

for 8lb leader i use a 6 turn uni knot. as you decrease leader diametre increase the number of turns, and vice versa.

it can tighten up when fighting a fish but its relatively easy to re-open or re-tie

Hi matty

i use lures with a loop style knot such as a uni or otherwise.
I personally use a lefty loop which is a

1. Overhead knot (leave open) and have about 10cm hangs out the end
2. Thread through the lure eye and then back throught the overhead knot
3. wrap around the line 5 times
4. Thread through overhead knot
5. back into the new loop
6. Lick it
7. Pull tight (leave the loop)
