I mentioned a couple of days ago that I bought a new rod and my wife commandeered it off me, well I sneaked a bait fish (yes God forbid BAIT) yesterday with it and I am blown away with the rod, its without a doubt the best rod that I have ever fished with ever.
I have 35+ rods (please don't say anything) and this rod just blew me away, I caught 10 bream ranging from approximately 18cm to 30cm and the rod did all the work. All night I have thought about it and I just cannot wait to get out later and catch some more just to feel the rod work again. Casting was like firing a gun! Just unweighted fresh mullet cubes.
The rod is a Diawa ProCaster-X IM7 Graphite
PR-X662LFS 6' 6"
Titanium Nitrided Zirconium Gold Guides
Deluxe Fuji Gold Pipe Seat
Top Grade Cork Grips
Next time your near a tackle shop if they have one just have a feel of it and get the shop assistant to hold the tip and see if you have a stronger constitution than me and walk out of the shop without it :)

See, now this is the type of post that only gets me into further trouble. You, Jim, are a trouble maker. A rabble rouser. A purveyor of problems! :)
I can see me reaching the lofty heights of rod ownership that you have aspired to.....very quickly!!

See Kevin your back from the brink, you have looked into the abyss LOL.
You thought you had your sickness under control yesterday but as you already know it was only remission.
Welcome back mate :D
And Kev your post read just like one of my old school reports ;)

Funnily enough, I was having a laugh with my wife last night about my post. (She came into the room half way through me writing it). She laughed because she knows what I am like, and how cost really doesn't enter my head if I want something. :)
I used to SCUBA dive - and if you want an expensive hobby just sign up for a dive course and buy the necessary gear. I reckon I could pay for a new Hornet with the money I spent in the first year I dived! It was great fun though, and I still occasionally get the dive gear out and wet it.

JP and I had a good laugh too as we read your post. I think we all have a major addiction problem. At least it isnt a drug that can harm us, only make us poor
Cheers,

I SCUBA dive aswell Kevin and its a great way to see fish in there natural habitat.
An hour or two around the racks twice a month is a real eye opener and yes its expensive to intially do the coarse and buy the gear. And something else that gets much heavier as I get older LOL :)

Recent trends and stated preferences seem to put the longer rod ahead. Many experienced people are saying 7' and even longer are "a good thing" for finesse-ing soft plastics. At 6' 6" it is hardly likely to be too long, I would choose the longer one if I were you.
Cast distance and ability to manouver lure and fish should be enhanced over a shorter rod.

hi
i saw one of these the other day at campbells - im pretty sure that it was the 6`6 model- but they only had the 1-3kg which i find very flimsy and not enough grunt in the lower end of the rod
just wondering if they come in a 2-4kg model???
cheers

This bit "PR-X662LFS 6' 6"" needs to say PR-X662MFS 6' 6" for the heavier model, the L is for light, M is for medium.
