Walpole Bushfires

I'm heading down there for my annual camping/fishing trip at the end of the month for a week. I was wondering if any of the locals (Madfish et. al.) had any info on how the rivers and estuary are holding up after the blazes last week? Hows the water clarity?
The GF and myself normally fish round the Deep and 'Snake Isle' - possibly not it's real name :D

Howya going Mark the rivers and inlet have got good visibility at the moment, we get fires every year they dont seem to do much exept burn all the wildlife and block out the sun for a couple of weeks. The real name of the island is Newdigate but everybody calls it Snake, the Muirs take a ferry out the mouth most days leaves from the town boatramp you can usually bum a lift and fish all round the mouth for a couple of hours nice beach for the GF.

We normally hire a tinneyfor the day from the caravan park at the neck.
The GF (aka lizard queen - she has this knack of catching them anywhere) is hanging out for flathead. She's hoping to expand her fishing to lures this time around - she actually went out and bought three prawnstars for the trip:D

I usually get a flatty every 3rd or 4th trip when I target Blackies, all on hardbodies in gold.

yer thats the biggest downer about bushfires.. Only this week a fire went through mt manypeaks and around waychinicup nat park

There are heaps of differnet species of critically endangered species down there. Sad when this area hold the only 30 or so in the world....

That area is is a favorite of mine and quite diverse in terms of it's flora, at least the fires will get all the orchids into flowering mode come spring. There's a quite a few that are endemic to the area that only flower after hot summer fires so it's not all bad.

and more recently, a fire took out over 300,000ha of bushland just east of Ravensthorpe. Lightning can put on an awesome display, but you goto feel for the firefighters who sacrifise there time and put there lives on the line after the storms. The bush will always come back as will the animals as both have evolved with fire over the centuries.
