PRT Braid

Has anyone tried PRT Braid in 4lb or 6lb.
I Have used it in heavier lines and found it to be fantasic .
Has anyone tried in the lighter lines for chucking plastics as I was considering trying some.

I tried it in 8lb on my Certate Custom, I kept getting loops off the spool so I changed to Fireline.
I use 20lb PRT on my Alphas and it's superb. :D

I am having the same issue with Fireline on my 3500 certate and thought that I had just overfilled it .
I removed some line but still seem to have the same problem.
Did you do anything else to eliminate the problem other than change to fireline?
I am using Fireline and have the same issue.
I was shocked to see that the PRT was available in 4lb & 6lb.
Is it new or always been available ?
Judging it from the heavier PRT lines I would say it will last a lot longer than Fireline.

4lb PRT hasnt been out for very long. I had a look at it in the shops and it looks pretty good. It would sound better running though your guides to :D

I had problems with the Fireline also, especially with unweighted sluggos. I didn't have any loops come off the spool though, they fell down instead and could be cast off easily.
That's one great thing I've noticed with the top Daiwa reels, the diameter at the base of the spool is less than at the top. Therefore and loose loops seem to just lay low around the spool rather than slipping off the top.

I don't have any problems now as the line's been broken in nicely.

You are correct that is the issue I have falling down not off the front.
Is there anything that can e done that stops this as it is really annoying ?

Andrew you would think the smaller Daiwas would be worse due to light weights being cast ?

Just bought another 1000yd spool of fireline but have ordered the PRT to see what it is like .

I had a lot of problems with new fireline looping and tangling, lost about 20 metres in 1 day. Would be interesting with the PRT though as it seems to break in a lot quicker in the heavier weights. Have ant of use tried the Platypus braid in 4 or 6 ?.

I've had loose line fall down the spool on my smaller Luvias's, but only when it was new Fireline, it hasn't happened after the first session. It's never caused a tangle for me as it casts off easily.

All that can be done is make sure the line is not slack when you're winding it in, not always easy I know. :mad:

get squidgey braid all of the above problems don't happen with squidgey braid

Flathead boy the only issue with Squidgy Braid is that it is not High Visibility yellow or pink.
I could not fish plastics anymore with line that is not high visibility yellow orpink as I feel you miss too many fish especially on the drop.
The beauty of PRT it is Spectra the same as Squidgy Braid but is in High visibile yellow

I use fireline don't have any probs at all and i also use a stradic. I think it all come's down to how it is feed onto the reel. I get the boys at the tackle shop to feed mine on with there little gismo and have never had any probs.

We are not saying there is anything wrong with Fireline, the issue with loose line falling down the spool is to do with the Daiwa Spool design.
I don't have issues on my Stellas either.
The discussion on the PRT is about the braid being brilliant in heavier line class and wondering if the new lighter lines were as good.
I would say that PRT is better than Fireline in heavier breaking strains.

Having said all that I have never put it through the rigours of casting all day as with Fireline .
I don't beleive it fades as quick .
I think PRT is better for knot integrity also!

Just my 2 cents worth...

First off i dont get a chance to fish to much in salt water so this is manly based on freshwater situations..

I used to use fireline ALL the time but i found to be losing to many lures/jigs due to what i thought was the slippage of the fireline and the fireline cutting thru the mono as it gets stretched. So i ended up using MAXIMA 6lb mono and the loss off lures/jigs dropped alot. But i wasnt getting the Feeling you do with braid, couldnt feel small hit/bumps/bites,etc . So i decided i would try another braid/fused line, in wich i purchased 10lb/2lb diamater powerpro braid ( i think is made by PRT).. I currently use this on a daiwa capricorn 1500/stella spin stick and have had minimal problems. It casts and ties like a dream , it doesnt slip like the fireline would and the knots are Excellent. Any way i would reccomend trying a braid ( PRT , POWERPRO, PiONEER etc.) as it seems to tie alot better and less loss of jigs/lures ,you wont be disapointed!!!

PRT is a good braid... not sure about the knots integrity being better than fireline but certainly at higher line class I would go for Braid over fireline anyday.....fireline feels like wire at higher line class.............

I wouldn't say that Fireline cause any more problems with Daiwa or Shimano reels... Just depends on how tight you spool ur line, etc., etc. a lot of factor....

They both are good products and either will do the job just fine...........I got a 4lbs and 10lbs from the US, but haven't spooled any reel with it... it certainly feels softer than fireline or squidy braid as it should as it is braided rather fused.......

My mates love squidgy braid but I won't use it for that reason, I just find high vis line has made such a difference to my lure fishing.
