Does anyone find it a good idea to remove the middle trebles. They seem to ruin some good casts by getting wrapped around line or even stuck in the split ring.
Would the action of the lure be relatively the same with them removed?
Thanks

I remove my middle hook for that one reason LCF, for every hooked up cast you may spook that one 45cm+ blackie that otherwise you may nail. I also seem not to miss many bream by removing the middle hook.

Yep I think I'm going to have to take all mine off as to often I'm doing a very memorable cast and you know instantly by the way the lure is "skiing" along the top of the water that it was wasted.

my only concern with removing the middle treble is the effect it has on the balance of the lure.
the lure will be tail heavy and any pause will result in it sitting tail down. from my experience, most lures swim front end slighty down and a perfectly balanced lure will sit like that, ready to swim.
removing the middle treble is personal preferance and if your confident in it then keep using it. if you want to keep the lure in balance, after removing the treble twist some lead wire around the eyelet to act as a counter weight.

You can crimp on a tiny split shot to restore balance to the lure if you want. I don't have little split shot in my boat cause they are too easy to drop & once under the floor start eating holes in your boat so I have a packet of small el cheapo heavy duty split rings that are thick & weighty for the size & I leave the original ring the hook was on there & wind another el cheapo heavy split ring on & this balances them up pretty well.

Thats a good idea Ravin, do the back trebles ever get caught up in the second split ring?

Never had a problem but I don't connect it to the first split ring I put it next to it on the loop of the lure

hey LFC after catching my first EVER fish i took it off and i ended uop catching 5 more after that, so i dont think it effects it all that much, it still jiggles prettty cutely tho the water haha
I found that alot of my fish were attatcking from behind and were caught by the last treble

I was wondering if you did it that way Ravin thanks mate.
Stevie thats a nice bream in your Avatar, I've never caught one as dark as you guys get them over there.
6 fish...great going, did you use Bears great idea of making the lure into a key ring or can't you bear (no pun intended) not to use it again.
If you have a pool, then you have the best way to tune a lure.

LFC i would never give it up!!!
The paint is nearly all gone off the bottom of it. Its a fantastic hardbody and it's all ive ever used and ive caught more fish then grant everytime ive used it!!! (finally i get to say im better then grant haha) Plus the hardbody is grants.... :( so i should probably buy him a new one (sold out i think)
I'll retire when i decide to steal another one of grants :)
Ive got a few good pics of some big bream, the biggest we've (grant julian and me) have ever caught was a 34cm'er! which i caught :D
PS what does pun mean?? haha

Good on em!!!!
They use breammaster to?
16 eh?? he hot?? lol
I used a combat down in walpole. First cast I pulled in a fish that chopped a bit of the hook off in the middle. So I tried it without the middle treble and it wouldn't sink. I put a middle treble back on and caught 2 more fish. I think I might try the split shot too. JP uses a split shot on the middle trble and it works for him.
Cheers

i use a gold sneaky (what ever that means??) and i did notice that it didnt sink as far without the middel treble but i did catch more fish... but i noticed if i angled my rod down it sank further with every jerk. all the beam i caught went for the kill when it was floating to the topa nd could see it actually getting hooked (the splashes)
