I've been using a looped uni knot to attach my hb's but under pressure it closes up so the question is will the perfection loop that I know some of you use close up under pressure or does it lock onto it's self. ???

Here's a illustration of the knot

The perfection loop won't closeup under pressure but has pretty bad knot strength, around 50% of the leader strenght. Lefty's loop knot doesn't close either but has much better strength. Start with the same overhand knot as the perfection but then tie as a half blood knot making sure tag end goes through the overhand knot at the end.

Hi Nathaniel

Gees, bad enough trying to learn a knot, but have to know the names too :D !!!!

The knot I use, is kind of like the Perfection Loop, however after Step 2, with the tag I make a granny knot or uni knot with the main line, wet both knot/loops and then tighten them. Never ever have a problem with it. The granny knot or uni knot basically sits/slides next to the perfection loop and thus no means of locking or loosening the loop.

Cheers :)

Hey BreamDreamer

yeah sorry bout that !! LOL I've got a copy of Geoff Wilsons Complete Book of Fishing knots and rigs. If you want a good reference guide for learning knots I recommend you grab a copy it's available from kmart. campbells and most likely breammaster but I'm not positive.

Here is a link to his knots, rigs online. knots & rigs (http://www.fishnet.com.au/knotsrigs/knotsrigs.php)

That was a great link. Just found out that when I do the Albright, in Step 3, I don't wind it back again, however my knot seems quite strong though, maybe because I double my fireline. Don't know.

Hey we should meet up again when you're not in so much of a hurry, and fish and do "knots".

Cheers

Hey your not so bad with knots, I'm not brave enough to even attemot the albright, thats why I stick with double uni's.

Would be great to meet up again, will have to be week after next if it's a night fish, could always make it early morning before (you) work but that depends are you much of a morning person ??

Check out The Uni Knot System (http://www.in-fisherman.com/magazine/guides/cg2003Sp_Uniknot/) this is what I've been using and it works for everything

thats the leftys, it has the half blood behind (towards the rod) the overhand knot.

This is the Perfection Loop (http://www.fishnet.com.au/library/knotsrigs/perfection_loop_knot.html)

The perfection does look a weaker knot.
