Gday Rob. Im finally up in QLD but as yet have not been able to get on the water. I did manage a small Bull shark from shore in one of the creeks so Im thinking of setting up a wire trace and getting towed around on the yak.
Im also thinking of a night session from the kayak chasing the monster bream that hang around the pylons at Sanctuary Cove. Just have to find time.
Gerard.

G Day chucky, good to hear your into a couple. What size? I managed a snook the other day aswell, not great size but a first for me. Would have thought I would have got one long before as I'm a bit of a lure dragger myself. I see they're not known as a table fish, but I had a crack at smoking him up along with some small coutta, a bit of time getting the flesh off the small bones and it seemed to come up OK. Geraldton must have a pretty decent range of fish. :)
G Day Shoey, Hope the move starts to settle down for you and ya get a bit more time on the water. Bit late to jump on the lions bandwagon, reckon their bones are starting to age a bit (will still thump the tigers though);) Big bream and bull shark rides, sounds like your in the right place. Never fished QLD, but have been told everything grows big. Good luck with it!

Hi Poddy,
The Snook were a mixture of some just non legal sized (30cm) and a few a coupla centimetres over,,
and even more recent is the schools of Giant Herring...
I fish just north of Gero and at first i thought these were school sharks on the surface but as I snuck closer (just gotta love a Yak for this) was amazed to see Giant Herring. trolled all around em but they not interested.
Got a few casts at em with the wand but they spook real easy. Was planning on going again this morning but as allways a strong wind warning,,,
Now all I need is this wind to drop and tomorrow morning will try again (is looking good on the weather map)
Any tips??
cheers Chucky (Dave)

G day Chucky, sounds like your fishing some great waters there. I've never been near a giant herring, but would be interested in hearing about it when you work them out. Good luck with it :)

Have just come back from a week in Noosa - paddled out to Jew Shoal (4 to 5 ks off main beach) on three mornings - hoping to catch a spottie - or my first spaniard. No such luck. We were on the water at 5:00AM on New Years Day and were loudly heckled by the New Year's revellers on the beach. Yesterday I was on the water at 4:15AM. I was the last to go (having had to rush back to the unit to collect my pillies which I had forgotten on the kitchen table) and it was certainly a new experience paddling out to sea in the near darkness! Anyway, if was good fun - and lots of exercise - but not great fishing. Bill Watson (the Spaniard King, who gave me plenty of invaluable help) reckoned it was still a bit early in the season, the moon was too full and the tides not quite right. Oh well, there is plenty of summer mackerel summer fishing left! Does anybody know of any spots in Moreton Bay one can paddle out to from the shore - to chase mackerel? Noosa and Palm Beach are just a little to early for me at the moment. When is Qld going to have Day Light Saving??

G day Redro, Reckon you'd be keeping good company to learn a few tricks, I'd love to do that but would probably get my notebook wet :)
