Its rules. I was desiding bettween 8lb XDS and 6lb normal and i got the 8lb. Its is finer than the normal 6lb and by a fair bit. It is round rather than flat and is alot limper than generation 1.
Its also rated to over 7kilo strength with a good knot. YES 7kilo.
Sell your soul if you have too this stuff is the best.

Took it for a test on the weekend and was EXTREMLY PLEASED.
Casted so well. Caught 2 small bream 30cm talior and 30cm hering (scorpion gold 52). I had the drag on max presure (diawa 2500 primax) just to see if i could snap the stuff but i wasnt able to. Also took it taior fishing and it handled casting big lures, although it snapped casting a 65gram raider (probly my knot). i didnt catch any taior so am still yet to see how it goes on the big stuff.

Does it come in lighter than 8lb?

Is it still only in that dark green colour?

It only comes in a smoke green colour. Similar to that of spider wire.

The smallest poundage is the 8lb.

I haven't used it but i'm concerned its vis on the water will be poor!!!

Anyone find it easy to see on the water surface??

The 9lb would probably make a good HB line, especially around oyster racks. I'm just concerned about the colour and the lack of visibility too. Does anyone know if there's plans to release it in bright colours?

I've tried out the XDS in 12lb and I personally thinks it's a great line. It's only downside is the colour, it's a shocker in terms of visibility on the water.

I looked at some US sites to get more info on XDS a while back. I could only find the one dark green colour.

They may do an "Australia only" colour, like the pink Fireline which isn't in the o/s online stores.

You can colour up faded fireline with a permanent marker. It doesn't last too long and you would have to wait for the XDS to fade first, which it is supposed to be good at resisting.

that would take ages to do it with a marker. could you just dip it in like food dyes???? might sound stupid but it may work better then a marker

What I used to do with my freshwater flylines in the days when all that was available locally came in a hi vis colour, was to dye them by cooking them up in a pot food colouring. That being said, it was an easy process because I was changing light coloured lines into dark coloured lines (normally olive) and not the other way around.
