Time to start a new thread - the other ones are all getting a bit convoluted. Anybody keen to get out on the water - earliesh Sunday morning? Preferably on the bay or off the beach - from Caloundra to the Gold Coast. I am still doing my best to get the hang of this fishing thing - so please don't count on my experience.
Cheers

G'day Nick,
Unfortunately I'm already committed to several duties tomorrow (not the least of which is to retrieve my RedClaw pots from Lake Samsonvale first thing in the morning).
How about next Saturday (the 9th) launching at Clontarf and heading across to the close-in reefs off Woody Point and Scotts Point (wind, weather & wives permitting, of course) ?
Regards,
Ross

Ill be up there on 9th and if I cant get hold of my friends kayak I should be able to meet up with you to see how you went. We'll be staying down at the Gold Coast the night before so an early start at Clontarf might rule me out. What about Cabbage Tree Creek at Shorncliff? I can throw plastics from shore and you guys can either stay in the creek or head out into the bay?
I was going to contact you soon Ross to let you know Im doing my part in pushing the SE.QLD average house prices up.;)
See Ya.
Gerard.

Ross, next Saturday sounds great (I am off to Melbourne on Sunday for a couple of days). I have very little in the way of tackle (lures). Perhaps I can give you a call in the week to chat about what I should get. My fishing gear at the moment mainly consists of a boat rod, an Alvey reel, and a couple of mackerel lures. I do have a light rod and reel though.
Gerard, I have a spare kayak - that "flat one" in the mackerel picture. I will be using my Swing. Only problem is that it will be tricky to get both on my car roof (Renault Scenic). I might be able to get one on my trailer though.
Lets hope the wind will have stoped blowing by then (don't we have to vote or something on Saturday??).
Cheers

Thanks Nick. The car that im using up there has kayak racks so if we can organise a reasonable start time (i am on holiday remember!) I could swing past and pick you up. If you guys are keen to try the creeks, im sure Guy wouldnt mind coming along if he can make it.
Keep in touch here or I will contact yourself or Ross once im up there.
Gerard.

Count me in for next Saturday. If the weather's good for the reefs Ross mentions, I'd consider launching at Margate and spend less time paddling and more time fishing!
cheers,
Tony

The reefs sound good to me, Tony. As does the shorter paddle. Getting out on the bay sounds like fun - and without any beach breaks it should not be too stressfull for anybody.
When are you getting up here Gerard - maybe I can get my kayak over to you a bit earlier in the week? While I am also not too keen on starting at the crack of sparrow - I also do not want to start to late in the day. You could also use the kayak while you are up here.
The yellow one in the picture.

Hey Gerard,
Gotta get the priorities right! You know that it's the women who have the say when it comes to choosing houses so you may as well go fishing!
How long are you up here for this time?
cheers, Tony

May have to pass on the kayak trip, only up for 5days this time so I will only be able to get some shore based breamin done in the evenings. I may be going on a charter on Sunday so that will be cool.
Id let the wife find a house but she doesnt look after my needs in that department, Workshed, pool, boat parking, storage, proximity to launching sites etc, these things arent on her list?
If all goes well ill be up permanantly on the 1st of December, without the wife and kids until the new year. So we should all be able to catch up then. Thanks for the kind offers Nick and Guy, but ill pass this week. Still let me know when you plan to head in from your Sunday Session and ill do my best to meet up with you.
See you soon.
Gerard.

OK, Ross and Tony, it looks like it's down to the three of us on Saturday (unless there are any other SE Qld based kayak fishermen lurking out there?). Tony, I'll give you a call (as I have your number) and discuss time and place. Probably early would suit me - also, good to get on the water before the wind gets up. Saturday is the only day I can go out this weekend - as I am heading off to Melbourne on Sunday. Hope this suits you guys.
Regards
Nick

Because I'm a lot closer than you blokes I'll have no problem meeting at Margate as early as you like.
