Welcome to Bream Master. For those of you who don't know, Dan and his mate and current BREAM champion Matt Fraser are the guys behind the Nitro range af jigs we sell in the online store.

They are made on Gamakatsu blanks the same as the round 25 size 2's.

Tell us a little bit about your jigs Dan.

Thanks Warren,
in regards to the DAS heads which are already selling on the site, these were developed to provide a product in the market place that have reflective eyes. The head profile also allows the jig to be placed inside the head of a small shad which results in a very life like bait fish presentation.

Matt and I started using the initial version of jigheads during our first B.R.E.A.M. event at the Gold Coast this year. We then backed up at Caloundra for round 2 and finished 5th and 8th. These jigheads were the edge when fishing really snaggy country. With the jigheads we used Craws or 2" single tails.

Since then we have been working on a new range of jigheads which will be called the "Bullet" series. In the Bream Bullet range there will be head sizes of 1/24, 1/16 & 1/8 oz with Chemically sharpended hooks including size 4, 2, 1 & 1 heavy wire (for those occasions when the "horse" bream or even squire are on the chew). These jigheads have a very natural head profile to suit most 1 1/2 - 2 1/2" soft plastics. As well as this they have "stand up" characteristics to reduce snagging up and increasing hook exposure.

The range will also cater for Bass, Jacks and Barra (and what ever else chews on them) with 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 oz jigheads in hook sizes 2/0 and 3/0 Heavy wire. These will also have silver or lumo eyes.

All jigheads will be available with or without eyes, as well as being available unpainted or in several natural colours such as green, brown, white and purple.

We are about 1 - 2 weeks away from sending you some packaged samples. We have been conducting some final product testing over the last few days with exciting results.

If you or any others have a favourite jighead colour, please let us know as we are still playing with our colour range.

Quick colour question - is it a light or dark purple jig head you'll be doing?

It would be good to be able to buy a darker one, and it would save the funny looks I get when I buy purple nail polish:D :D

We have been playing around mixing colours to find the "ideal" purple along with some other proposed colours. We are definately leaning towards the dark shades of purple, as the dark purples are better suited to Bass fishing, and our new range of jigheads comming.

Our goal is to find a gloss plum colour, which in the bream field should be a great combination with the muscadine sliders.

As you can appreciate, there are a lot of shades of purple soft plastics out there. We just have to find the right shades to suit the more popular colours.

The new Nitro Bream Bullets will be on the way over to you soon. It has taken us much longer than expected to iron out a few problems and get the moulding done. However we have three sizes done- 1/24, 1/16 & 1/8 all in size 2 Gamakatsu's at the moment. We will be doing some 1/24s in size 4 and the 1/8th in size 1 and size 1 heavy wire.

All three sizes will be available in plain, and the 1/16 & 1/8 will be painted in black, watermelon, motor oil and plum with eyes. They are looking pretty special.

I'll have some sample heading your way by late this week/early next week - you wont be dissapointed!

What sort of price range are we looking at for these jigs.

Retail prices for the unpainted jigs will be very competitive with other leading brands. For the painted jigs with eyes expect to pay $1 to $2 more for a pack of five. This is to cover the time and materials involved to come up with a special looking jighead.

The choice will be up to the angler. In some areas where jighead attrition is high it's probably not worthwhile using the more expensive jigheads, but I think a lot of people will like the look of the painted Nitros.

Dont expect to see them in your tackle shop till at least February, as the first batches are only just being packaged now.

Can the nitro black eye's be inserted into a 1.5" Slider/1.25" atomic? Cos i was thinking it would be a pretty tight fit. Or can they also be fished as standard jig heads sticking out the end (as seen in Mitch's fish of the month). I do like the looks of em.

The Nitro "DAS head" jigs as seen on fish of the month can be used on grubs just like a normal jighead, or by using the cutting tool they can be inserted into the head of shad bodies - such as 2" Atomics and Squidgies. You are right though, it is too tight to fit them in grubs.

There is also a range of Bream Bullets (1/24 to 1/4) that are a very natural profile for grubs and also suits shads.
