I went a bit overboard recently and bought a heap of gear for a recent trip up the coast. My favourite purchase was a new Millerod BeastBuster and Daiwa Certate 2500R-Custom combo. This outfit is awesome! An absolute joy to fish with! :D

The photo's aren't too crash hot, I'll get some more when I get some better jews over the next few weeks. I ended up getting 13 jews and about 30 kingies on that outfit last week. :D

Here's another one of my many new toys, an Avet LX. This reel is spooled with 50lb Jigman (?) braid and is beautiful to fish with. It does the job of a Tiagra 50 while being the size of a Calcutta 700, and you can cast it! ;)
i hate rich ppl:mad: :p
nice new combo mate!:)
pity i cant catch any mullas:(

There's jews everywhere at SWR, but they're all tiny at the moment. I'm looking forward to cracking some big ones back here in Sydney soon.
swoffa,
What'd you get the jews on at SWR? I'm a couple of rivers north and have been getting them on bass minnnows, only 45 to 60cm though. How long is that one in the photo? Good looking kit, I'm expecting my new capricorn 1500 any day now.

The report was a good read, u caught a heap of fish ( and u classify 5kg Jewies as "small"??!!!) but I cant help noticing how friggin neat and even u layed ur pink line onto ur spool on ur Certate Custom!

All the jews were caught on 4-6" shads, mostly Storms and Squidgies. I fished water from 6-10m deep at the end of the run out tide.
Matt, a quality reel like the Certate always lays the line evenly, I didn't even adjust the spool spacing like I do on my Luvias's.

Hey mate,
I just checked my reels, 2 of the 1500's have one spacer added, and one has 2 added.

How do you change the spool spacing
wat does this mean how does it work?
sorry if it sounds stupid

It's hard to explain, but you add or take off small spacer wasers on the shaft that the spool sits on. The idea is to make the line roller line up better with the top and bottom of the spool when laying line. Not all reels come with additional spacers.

I noticed that with my sustain - a few washers came with the purchase, and I added 1 washer and now it lays line perfect. And depending how you want your line to sit on the reel you can add or take washers out. Pity I threw that reel in the water, when I had finally got it working well.

Hey Andrew,
Some nice looking toys there.... but what happen to the Stella 4000?

I couldn't do it, the Certate is just too sweet...
I'm thinking about getting a BayBuster next which I'll probab;y match with a Stella 5000 if I can bring myself to get a Shimano again.

i just had a look on the net at the avet reels
did you get the 6.0:1 or the 4.1:1
they seem to be alot cheaper than the saltigas
swoffa

Hey mate, I bought the 4.1:1 and it's a beast. I think they retail for just under $500, but I'm not sure.
I haven't tried a Saltiga, so I can't compare.

hey Andrew
i was just wondering how the certate is going
has it needed any maintainence?
do you just give it a rince after each use?
im thinking of ordering one and am a bit worried about parting with my money so i just wanted to know how it was holding up.
cheers
