Attention Luvias 2004 owners...

On my 2004's the drag is very quiet, hardly audible in fact...

I sent one back to Daiwa Australia for a service and whatever parts are needed to increase the sound and was told that it's normal. :confused:

Who has one? And is yours as quiet as mine? :confused:

I like to know what a fish is taking like. I hooked a jewie on one of my 2004's and couldn't tell when it was pulling drag as it was windy...

Nothing beats the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz anyway. :D

I have recently obtained 2 x Luvias 2000s so will check them out this weekend. How are they different from the 2004 is just a shallower spool on the 2004?

Thanks mate, but they're totally different. My other Luvias's are all fine, it's just the 2004's that are almost silent.

There's heaps of differences, including the mechanism that makes the drag sound, it's all done to reduce the weight. :confused:

I got mine from Jun and have a 3000 on the way which I intend putting on a Beastbuster when I get time to speak with Ian about it. Think it will be just the job for HD estuary stuff like jewies on larger plastics and big bass at Glenbawn.

I spoke to Ian today to confirm that my BeastBuster will arrive next week, I can't wait. :D
I was planning to match mine with the Certate 2500R I have on hold, but Ian suggest something slightly bigger so I might go for a TD-Z 2506C TYPE-R+ or Stella 4000 instead. I'm wanting mine for SP's for big jewies and casting sluggos for harbour kings.
The new BayBuster looks great, that'll be the next toy I think... ;)

I received my Luvius 2004 a couple of weeks ago and the spool click is a lot less audible than my 1500, but I think it's fine for the 4lb fireline I'll use on it.

I do remember reading your previous posts about the very quiet spool click before I bought it though, but for me it's not that big an issue.

I gave my 1500 a good run on some Glenbawn bass last week hooked up to my loomis dropshot - up to 47cm fork length bass (2.3Kg) and it was such a pleasure to use.

I haven't had a chance to use the Luvius' on the bream as yet.

I just got a call from the tackle store telling me that the reels are back from Daiwa and they've been "tweaked up" a bit. I'll give you an update on the drag click after I pick them up.
Mine weren't just quiet, they made a bit of a sqeal sound under pressure, it was horrible. :(
