curly tails or padlee tails???

just wondering what do most of u use a curly tail or a paddle tail
in my thinking i would go for the curly tail asit has more action . thanks michael

Its a bit of a raffle really Michael. Lots of guys here are going to swear by pumpkinseed and muscadine sliders and they've also done okay for me. As an added bonus they cast better but then I like the action of the fat grubs too and in fact a fair amount of my recent fish have come on crawdad/brown and motor oil gold grubs.

My plan has been to start with the one I am most comfortable with (for me thats a crawdad/brown grub) and if it doesnt produce keep swapping it all around.

depends on my gut feeling as to whats gonna work. ive caught more fish on single tails but the other day they went mad for paddle tails :)

if the fish follow the plastic but dont strike i usually change colour......but if there are no follows then i change style.

my favourite is whatever i last caught a fish on :D :D :D

I am with Pete on this one, whatever I caught my last fish on gets run:D

Seriously though I normally start with either a Pumpkin Seed 1.5" Slider or a Smoke/Salt & Pepper Kalins. Dont actually have a favourite style, but I always carry a large array of different style's and adjust to what is successful on the day. And to take that even further I ensure I have different styles of curlies aswell!! A Berkeley Power Grub has an entirely different tail than a Kalins Salty Lunker hence different actions.

Pete and Matt are definitely on the right track - start with what you're confident in and change, change, change until you crack the right combination.

I'll always start with a Pumpkinseed / Pumpkin Shrimp Slider (unless I'm out to prove a point:rolleyes: ) and work from there.

As Matt said, not all curl tails are the same - and it applies to T-tails as well.

Best advice - try and get a selection and compare them to see how they swim.

I have to admit that I've had more luck when the fish are really fussy on T-tails than the curlies - but that could just be me:D

another thing ive found is when the fish are particulary spooky a paddle tail usually works better than a single tail. ;)

maybe its because there is less movement in a paddle tail.
