just a quick question, what "Thickness Ply" would you suggest for a front platform? as i'm fitting one to my Quintrex 420 Dory
my platform will be 120 Long X 165 Wide, is it best to try and fit it as a one piece or would it be better in two halves?
thankyou, cheers Chucky

Hmmmm whats this! a too hard a question:D is there no one that can help me out on the thickness of Ply for a casting platform
i would have thought 1/2" or 3/4" just didn't know which one, also my platform will be supported at each end by a frame and supported in the middle by the standard front seat of the 420 Dory
so i would have thought the 1/2" would be fine but having never done this before i didn't want to get caught out and have a platform that broke
also i was wondering about this
my platform will be 120 Long X 165 Wide, is it best to try and fit it as a one piece or would it be better in two halves?
hope someone can help cheers chucky

chuckthrillseek i would imagine the thicker one would be better just for some extra security.

Hey Chuck most people use a 12mm ply, it doesnt have to be marine ply but make sure you give it a coat of lacka.
Dnt use MDF though, if it gets wet it spells up like a spunge
Hope that helps you out a bit, im trying to do the same to my tinnie.

marine ply usualy comes in 12mm or 19 mm .. if u need 120/165 then is ok u can have it out of one sheet as the come in 1200 /2400 .. so u can have half sheet .. and trust me get the 19 mm thicknes.. also put a coat of undecoat al around it before u glue the carpet.. if u won put carpet then put some fine sand in the undercoat so u have floor grip when is wet. make sure u use stainles steel screws to secure the floor .. if u put other type of screws u will not have them in there more then couple trips as salt will distroye them stright away .. ive done mi floor and i could help u if needet.. good luck
