A couple of questions for those in the know....
I've been on the lookout for a Bow mount for my Quintrex 435 Top Ender for a while. At this stage It's been narrowed down to a Minn Kota Riptide RT55/AP with a 54" shaft. Best price I can find has been quoted at $1399, is this OK or can a better deal be found? Also, any thoughts as to wether this item will do the job ( having read back through most of the older threads there seems to be a mixed reaction, however if someone has a similar setup, a second opinion would be appreciated.)
Now the other problem - the boat is fitted with low profile/half bow rails - any ideas as to the best way to fit the motor. I will be using a quick release bracket, but obviously the rails will have to be modified - is it better to remove one rail altogether or chop and reform, leaving half a rail. There is also a bow sprit with anchor roller to contend with. Anybody have any preferences on which side is best ( I'm thinking port).
Sorry guys, once I got started I couldn't stop - any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Mate.
The quote you have recieved is Awesome. Until now, the best Ive heard is around $1500!!!:D

Also, from what ive seen, the best mounting position for the bow mounts is either centre or port. Im assuming port is due to the fact the drivers are almost always sitting on the starboard side of the boat!

Good luck mate. HTH

Hi Madmaccs,

Go to the sportsfish site. Blakes Marine in NSW are doing a special deal on MK.... A friend just got it from them for about $1.2K yesterday.... Just tell them you saw the posting on sportsfish.

Thanks Traveller

Spoke to Blakes Marine and quoted the website as suggested - $1200 was for the 48" shaft but they can do me a 54" for $1302.
The original quote was from Bias Boating - they claim to match or better any published price - spoke to them again and their checking out the web site and are getting back to me with a yes or no.
Blakes have one ready to pick up on August 10, so I'll probably go with that unless Bias can change my mind! ( I have dealt with Blakes before and they are excellent - rather give them my money). Thanks again for the info - at least saved me $100 so that's a free quick release bracket:D :D :D

Just for interest sake - what length shaft are you going for? I decided on the 54" just to be safe.

Oh well just got to get the treasury Dept to approve the funds now!! - Who am I to deny myself! ;)

The Rep from Bias Boating couldn't find it either - they did say that if a print out of the web page was sent to them they would match the price (if that helps anyone).

Just spoke to Blakes Marine and placed deposit on my new Riptide Kota - pick it up Aug 10 - can't wait - thanks again traveller.
