Help needed for fuse/circuit breaker info

For all you sparkie/electronic type people out there i really do need some feedback on weather it is necessary or not to have an inline 40 amp fuse or circuit breaker when you install an electric motor...i have just purchased a 55lb RP with AP and wish to wire it up...if the answer is yes to the above can i use one of those 40 amp self resetting (instead of manual as recommended) circuit breakers.

If you don't fuse the supply and something bad happens like the motor/propellor jamming or similar then the current draw will quickly damage motor windings, wiring, etc and the wiring can overheat and start a fire. Best to fit the recommended capacity fuse/breaker and fit it close to the battery so that the current is removed from the wiring if there is trouble.
