I have only just started using soft plastics and hard bodies and still have had no luck. To test if it was my lack of skill or if I there was just no fish in the areas ( guildford and ascot ) i have been fishing i have been throwing bait out as well as using lures. The test showed that there was fish in the area because i caught a couple of bream on bait and did not even get a touch when using soft plastics/hard bodies. what am i doing wrong ?

persevere!!!

read the forums....ask questions...and try to hook up with someone who knows what their doing....from what ive read there seems to be a social fish near you every week or 2.

Les,
Things are a bit crazy this week with the comp, but drop me an e-mail early next week and well get out in the boat.

We'll see how we go then. 'Til then, it's just practise.

What HB lures are you using.

Thanks Bear. The only HB i am using is the one you picked out for me in the tackle shop on Saturday in Vic Park. Not sure exactly what it is called, still not quite up with all the lingo....

Sorry mate,
My brains a bit slow. Mate, if that's all you've been going for then there is still a bit of work.

I would look at getting yourself a few different lures to start with. The scorpion you bought is a good start, but the key is variety and flexability.

I'll try and catch up next week and we can go through some I have and go from there. have a look at the forums and make a few decisions yourself in the mean time.

I would get a few Oar-Gees, some different coloured scorpions (pink fluro in one of my faves), and the rest is really up to you.

Hang in there, it's worth it.

Good onya Bear, top advice.

The main thing is not to stress Les, after fishing with Bear and some of the others you`ll notice a lot of things to help your cause. Make sure you pick his brain to death, ask why hes doing certain things.... And things seem to make sense then.

I only took up spinning for Bream 4-5 months ago, I honestly found it really hard to start with, and with that came several doubts and few fish.... But after meeting other guys and watching them and picking their brains (and I picked a lot of brains) and seeing the way they fish, Ive made numerous changes to my techniques which has seen my confidence and catch rate increase. I learnt to love this bream thing with a passion now.... stick with it and you`ll be hooked.... You`ll get your first soon enough... and then you`ll be away,....;)

cheers

Keep at it, Les. You'll get there, and wonder what all the fuss was about. :) Pick the brains outta those guys over they. They SEEM to catch a lot of fish! :D

We do all right Kev.

It wasn't so long ago I had to drag Richo out to use hard bodies for bream. That's changed.

We are all still learning Les. No such thing as knowing it all.

And Bear you could probably still remember the look on my face - I was pretty fishless before we hooked up, and I was so stoked with my first hard body capture.... No looking back since. God damn this is fun......
