Guys, I am looking at purchasing a Daiwa Luvius and am wondering what size I should buy, either the 1500 or 2000.
I wll be matching it with a Millerods Bream Buster std and also G Loomis Dropshot Rod DDSR 820S (the lighter rod). And will be putting 4lb Fireline on the reel.
I currently have a 2500 Sustain, 1000 Stradic (which I think I'll offload) and a 1500 Capricorn but would like someting in between the 1000 and 2500 size in the Shimano.
What do you guys that own them suggest?
Are the reels as good as everyone says they are? I do prefer the Daiwa product over the Shimano, as I prefer the slower gear ratios and line laying qualities of the Daiwa.
Thanks,
Budda

the 2000 weighs 5 gram heavier.... only problem is i gotta wait 2-3 weeks b4 i see my luvias( hia out of stock :()

I have 1500's and a 2004 and I'll go for a 1500 first eveytime.
I match mine with BreamBusters and Loomis DropShots and they're perfect.
The reason I'd say to stay away from the 2004 is that the ratchet is way too quiet. I actually contacted Harada (Plat) as soon as my 2004 arrived as I thought it was faulty. I've been shown that it is supposed to be a lot more quiet than the 1500.

With the 2004 & 2505 luvius's
What is the differance
is it just the spool size
and what is meant by shallow spool
is it like the same size as a 1000 size shimano
as in the smaller diameter of the spool.
Because ive got a 1500 capricorn and i want a smaller reel.
Hope this makes sence

The 1500 and 2004 Luvias are the same size reel but the 2004 is a lot lighter. Some of the internal mechanisms are lighter and the spool is shallow, meaning that internal diameter of the line area is not as great as that of the 1500 (if you know what I mean...).
This size Luvias is slightly larger than a 1000 size Shimano but with a decent spool for casting light weights. However it's a fair bit smaller than a 1500 Capricorn.
