hey jim
it makes me smile when the temprature goes up a few degrees on the east coast. Over here in perth we get tempratures like that for weeks on end. It hasnt happened yet this year but february's coming and if its going to happen thats when it will.
Im like you i hate it, give me autumn and winter anyday.
anyway stay out of the sun and try to think cool!!

cheers kevvy.

I'm weighing the benefits of having my broken leg.
I cant do anything at all, but i get to sit in a house with A/C which sits on 21 degrees 24 hours a day.

Here in West Oz we call it "Sweaty A$$ Syndrome" it is when you get a sweat rash between your butt cheeks from walking around in a hot work area (hurts like hell) :)

GUess paying thousands of dollars for a private school has its benefits. ALl our classes are fitted with air cons that are too damn cold. Every time you walk out the door its like arriving in singapore when ya step out of the plane

gday torvic

yeah i guess there r advantages but a couple of my mates goto private schools and they recon that private schools are a push over that they run riot and get a way everything.
thanks michael

A) i went to a private school and we didn't have ANY air conditioning or fan, though we were lucky to have the 'grammar school lagoon' at our doorstep.

B) as an architect, i can tell you that it is actually not wise to stand in front of a fan on a hot day (over 32 degrees, skin temperature) for longer than 15minutes as it strips away the layer of saturated air on top of your skin which is acting as natural insulation. initially you feel cooler because of the evaporation of your sweat, but after that, blowing over 32 degrees air to your skin is only forcing more heat into yourself.

food for thought.

hahaha you reakon thats bad???

My folks work up north in Telfer (near marble bar.... about 300kms inland from port hedland) and they are surveyors. They work from 5:30am till 5pm all day.... everyday.... no weekends off or anything ... in 47-50 degree heat.... They've done it for a year now.

I reakon they are the most bravest people ALIVE :) I went up there for a few days over my birthday and mannnn i couldnt cope.. not going from 21-22 degrees to 38 in the shade during spring :)

I used to live in Kununurra in the north of WA. As far as I'm concerned if you can live there you can live anywhere.

Very tropica place inland, which meant that summer used to be about 40-46 degrees and 90-110% humidity. I used to work for MRD up there and was checking out a section of road that was failing. We had a therm we placed under the road and it said 58.

Road level was 64 and the car was 82. retired on the spot and headed down to our fave cherabin spot for a few ales and some Barra. To be honest, the barra was the only thing that kept us there.

Lived in Darwin for just over 3 years and while not as bad, it does get fairly uncomfortable. Still, it has barra too ;)

110% humidity???...is that possible?

Bear,
my folks are pegging out where the new road from telfer to the telfer gold mine is going to go. They walk in 50 degree heat all day :( Mum and dad emailed me some photo's of the storms that are starting to brew up there. Pretty fantastic i reakon!!

Feel sorry for my parents actually.

I watched this programme yesterday "the world around us" about the kimberlys.

The barra he caught was f#%king huge!!!

Bear
27-01-2003, 04:56 AM
You bet 'M',
Got to love the Barra up there. I actually found the Kimberleys better than the NT.

I've caught hundreds over the years the biggest going 46 pound. That's one of the reasons I like bream fishing, it's not unlike chasing barra.

My old man spent a lot of time in Telfer about 20 years ago and I remember the heat he talked about. I certainly don't envy your parents.

Hey guys.
School aint so bad in summer. My school had a pool and if we weren't in that, we were splashing the girls with water. You see, our uniform consisted of a white tshirt/top. HEHEHEHE
Boy i'm gonna miss that.
Oh well, bring on Uni!!!:D

Awww damn you just have to tease us guys in private schools...!
At least right next door to our school is a private GIRL school, MLC hah. The boarders seem to have fun at night launching skirmishes and pointing certain image enhancing tubes at windows.

Bah who cares...UNI is just around the corner :p
