In a nutshell if I didn't have fireline I probably wouldn't go fishing ;)

gday bream boy
the reason i think fireline is good is that it has no strecth and is very sensitive so u can see if a bream is tapping u lure or softie
good casting distance and u could probaly fit more on a reel than mono as it has a smaller diameter
thanks michael

I agree with LCF now I dont know how I ever caught fish with my old setup without fireline.
A few weeks ago we had to cast into a tight spot over the corner of a certain roof *cough* and my friend couldnt quite get it. I could do it fine with my fireline, when I tried hers I almost hit the damn 'building'. Then when I got back to my fireline I couldnt cast anymore because of that one cast with the mono (it was bad quality mono anyway).
Anyway it definately helps with casting aswell and the old mono feels like en elastic band compared to fireline I reckon anyway.

does a bear DohDohDohDoh in the woods??..is the pope catholic?? :D:D
or is it does the pope DohDohDohDoh in the woods??...and the bear catholic??:rolleyes:
nevermind.......fireline/braid is in my opinion essential to successfully getting bream out of snags and into your net. where i fish there is approx 10 feet between pylons....on a 10 metre cast with monos 25% stretch, most bream would be able to get around the pylon and break me off. gel spun plolyethelene's (sp) 3% stretch allows me to control the fish and, usually, land them.
you say most people use penn X10, im guessing most use it as their leader, or on a spare spool.

Gotta go the Fireline:D :D :D
If you're not using it you will be amazed - I would have to say that most hard core Bream addicts use it, anyone want to offer anything better??
Yes fireline makes a huge difference. But, it's not the only line out there, there are also braids, like bionic and platypus which are really good!

I am still using mono however after reading what you folks say i will have to invest in some fire line
maybe that will help me catch my first bream on lures

Jim i think it goes by another name, (supercast) also, thinner than fireline in diameter, I`ve only used heavy line class in this stuff-24kg and outcasts fireline with ease BUT i`ve yet to give a verdict on it`s durability and abrasive qualities, knots are a reeeeaaaal pain in the neck with this stuff:(

I recently went from 6lb to 4lb and i feel like i am throwing out a spool of cotton with the strength of rope.
It helped me to get a tenth place at Walpole:D , I am still over the moon about that.
