Opinions on the old model stella's 1000's

I have been offered one of these quite cheap, what do those people who own them think, compared to the new ones etc. I have my own opinions, but just wondering what iothers think!
I personally prefer the old machined handle versions, rather than the folding cast item used now!

Ive used the old model (bottom pic) and rate it VERY highly. The only reel that I would rate next to it would be the Daiwa Airity (i think thats its name, it was priced at near $1200 at Complete Angler).
I've only heard bad reports about the new version (top pic) I'm afraid. Apparantly some tackle stores have had a few too many come bacnk in with rather unhappy clients. Have a look through some US Bass sites at the comments made on the topic. I think you'll find quite a few damning reports.
If you can get hold of the bottom one (old version) grab it....they are sweet.

I heard the same on the FA.... they are equivalent to the Jap 2002 Model. The Jap 2004 model is really nice with a really nice price..... Airity is touch better from what I read... and its nicer to use than my 2003 AU Model (The ones I bought from the shop).

When did you compare it to the airity, cause didn't think you'd ever seen one, besides your model strella is the 2500f isn't it what the Au all about?
