I have a few foam boxes around the joint, and I’m interested in making a livewell out of one in time.

Would anyone have any insight in preparing one, making it last fish proofing it from damage? Like fiberglass, or if there is any other methods going around this, to strengthen it from the elements.

Any help will be much appreciated.

craig c (bream reaper) made one out of foam boxes and then fibre glassed it. there was also an article in the DohDohDoh mag a couple of months back!

Thanks Evan.

I was actually reading the swan boards actually Chris post about livewells and decided to come here for more advice.

Clearly I didn’t get go that far through the forms to that post. Or I could of just plainly missed it.

Anyway I saw your post about where to get foam boxes from, and I know where you can get them free :) . Just head down to your local fruit and veg shop, and ask them. They get there goods delivered in them, and then they have to dispose of them, and they come in all different sizes. If you can’t find one of the right size I’m sure you could take a few and cut and join a few with a hot wire. I would expect a ply re-enforcement, and fiberglass coating would surely strengthen the joins and such.

I bet your local fruit and vegs shop will be pleased to get rid of them. ;)
