There was a product review on platypus 4lb super braid in the December issue of FishingWA. Ian Sewell did a test with a micrometer on it and the diameter of it was about 0.11 mm.
He also did a knot strength test on it with 9 turn uni-knot and on 1 test it broke at 8lb and on the other test it broke at 6lb.

I was sent a roll of the 4 pound Platypus Super Braid today to write a review on & first impressions are its excellent. It is more supple than Fireline & the 4 pound is very close in diameter to the 6 pound fireline. I had no problems at all with knot strength & I tried several of the most commonly used main line / leader knots. I'm looking forward to having a fish with it. Thats if the damn wind & rain stops.

I was under the impression that true braids were not suited to threadline reels. It will be very interesting to hear your opinion after you try this stuff.

Just to add something more, Jarvis Walker will be bringing in Suffix Hydro Fine Braid in lighter breaking strains (down to 2kg) ) in about 2 months time. I reckon this stuff will rival Fireline.

I had a fish with the Platypus line this morning & it was fine. It is a tiny bit thicker than 6 pound Fireline but a lot limper. It cast well & I had no dramas using it at all.
is it a genuine braid ?????? or is it like fire line ...............also is there any reports of if it holds water like other braids or does it have a coating ...........
and like mike asked wat sort of diametre are we looking at ......................lov plat braid in larger size's ...holds a lot of water thou ........................
good if they brought out harro's bionic braid in 4lb(pink) very visable --------------------------------------===================use long leader, nut doesn't seem to hold as much water as platpus but does lose it's colour over time/use
any other thoughts

I don't have any drama with it holding water at all. It casts fine. I can't tell you the exact diameter cause its not marked on the spool & since moving I can't find my micrometers. It is true braid.
