Hi
I'm new to the sport and I was wondering what type of flyline you guys would recomend for fishing the snags in the small creeks of the nsw central coast. Is there a line that has a shorter head so I don't have to have as much line out to cast as sometimes there is not much room in these creeks.

Regards
Greg

Greg, I think Scientific Anglers have a Bass taper which has a short powerfull head, it's designed for turning over larger surface flies such as Dahlbergs etc. For bream fishing I have always used sink tips and intermediates, these were used for fishing deep drop offs and while covering water. Howver these days they do not suit my current syle of fishing. I beleive a floater is the way to go,especially if your casting at snags.

Hi Greg

Do you cast into snags or do you bounce flies from the snags into the water.?

IF you bounce the fly into it i would be using a real cheap floater like thoes from John Norris (hes English but sells cheap lines). Email me for the details im not sure if can place there URL on this site.

Casting into snags keep the leaders fairly smallish 6ft - 9ft, more managable and easy to use i personally would use crazy charlies or bendbacks. Something that rides hook up and sinks slowly.

You could try and draw the bream out of the snags so your not in tiger country either by working the snag horizontally/side on. So you bring the bream out of there hidey holes.
