Thanks for all your setup advice. much appreciated!! what is the ideal rig when using lures and soft plastics ? i have used bait mostly and used a running sinker, swivel and leader to a wide gap hook.

I think a couple of metres of leader straight to the fireline should do the trick. I use a double uni knot to join them up and have no problems with it so far, though some other guys use other knots which have their own advantages.

When using hardbodies just tie the leader on directly as using a snap swivel would disturb the lure's action as most of these breamming lures are pretty small

yeah most bream fishos ive seen us a couple of meters of mono as a leader then tie the lure/jig straight onto the leader. leaders of about 6-12lb are usually the norm however you do get some 'crazy' people;) that fish 2kg mono straight to the lure/jig!!!

when tying on the lure i like to use a loop of some sort but some simply use a blood knot- personal preference
