Hi troutsmith,
my fav topwater lure for bream is a heddon tiny torpedo.
Cast amongst the snags or overhangs and twitched for 30 secs before the retrieve starts works well for me. :D
failing that i have two tiny rebel grasshopper lures about 30mm long which i use with the same technique.
Top water fishing for bream in secluded creeks with no usual human interference is amazing stuff. :) Nothing better than to watch a huge bream moving around the crystal clear waters hunting for anything that moves. If you see a big bream on the prowl throw your lure near some structure not actually directly at him. Then twitch the lure or pop it, but dont start the retrieve until you are sure hes not gonna investigate the disturbance.
A handy hit for popping the lure is to remove most of the slack line without moving the lure and flick the line with your finger. creates a hard loud pop that really gets them excited.
Good luck with your top water fun.:D :D

Go the 'thong thing' !
I haven't seen them in any of the local tacklo's for a while, but you can make them - there was an article in one of the major fishing mags recently - can't remember which one.
They were made out of massacered kiddies paddle boards and cut/melted into shape, with a wire insert pushed into them when hot.
Could be time for some experimentation:D

:) Hi Bassifier
Just a question what is wrong with the daichis hooks. Are they not up to scratch.
Only asking cause i need to buy some hooks for my hard bodies as they are looking pretty crap. And i have one of those cicadas.
The bream sure do love them i went for a flick on the Para today and the cicada caught 6 out of 8 bream the rest were caught on Sneaky scorpions.:)
