Hey guys,

Just curious as to c if eTec's have an hour meter... I have looked everywhere and I don't think they do but curious as to c if Im wrong.

If they don't, is there a way to find out exactly how many hours u have done without gettin a service.

Cheers Kyle

No, they do not have an hour meter and to my knowledge, the only way to determine the engine hours is to have the technician plug the diagnostic scanner into the engine.

If you look at this site there is heaps of info for the E-tec.
Here is the link for the hour meter:

I have been told you can also hook up your Lowrance HDS through NMEA 2000 Connection and that will tell you a host of info including hour meter.
And I think with the newer I command gauges you can view the hours as well.

Thanks for the responses.

I have found out that 40's do not come with them but u can get them as an added extra... (would've been nice to of been informed of this when purchasing the boat). I doubt i will do 300hrs before 3 years but it would be nice to know.

Cheers Kyle

I have ordered a new BMT package today with a 90hp Etec. Matching gauges of Tacho, Speedo, Trim and Fuel gauges provided in package, opted for the hour gauge to match for an additional $160.00.

Yes, the techs can grab the hours out of the computer but I think it worthwile to be able to see the info yourself, particularly with potentially 3 years between services. I would like to know if I am getting near 100 hours.

Yes, I could have connected to the sounder via broadband to keep track of the hours but at this stage I don't want to connect them.
