View Full Version : Pumpkin&Muscadine What else works?

I know everyones been having a lot of success on sliders, especially pumpkinseed and muscadine. What other colours are pulling them out of the snags?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm thinking about getting some more.

Warren do you think that any of the new colours are going to be good.

Other guys i know have been using these for a while but i tried them the other day and let me tell ya BLOODY AWESOME.

Anything watermelon (black flecks or not) is dynamite on bream
and
Bloodworm
and
Brown Crawdad (atomic fat grubs)

atomic 2 inch grubs in brown crawdadd and chartruse crawdadd and bloodworm squidgie wrigglers.:)

I don't like going to the real bright colours like chartreuse, unless the water is really really really stained
If there is a bit of stain
I usually use a white coloured grub
Think the fish see it better!?;)

no one has mentioned motor oil yet - quite a sucessful colour

raymand i was told the other day that there is 2 thought patterns to your theory. one is yours and the other is that people only use natual coloured plastics when the water is dirty

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I now have a lot better of an idea as to what I want to get but I'll still wait to see the new colours.

Raymans and Evans point is interesting. Bright colours in dirty water is logical but I have heard that natural/dark/camouflaged in dirty water works best. Is one of the theories better than the other or doesn't it matter. Any other opinions on this would be appreciated.

Amber grubs are dynamite! as are gold glitters.
I think bright colours are only effective on dirty water, but i've found that gold works in clear and dirty!
Naturals seem to work in clear and dirty for me, but i'm yet to hook up with bright colours in clear water.

Ive found chartreuse to be quite a successful colour

Most of the popular colours have been mentioned so I will list a couple of colours that seem to only work when everything else has failed.

1.5" White Glo Slider, this colour has pulled big Bream for me on those slow days when all you get is choppers.

Electric Gold Crappie Spider, this one is actually a regular Bream taker.

Smoke Salt/Pepper 2" Kalins (or any single tail), this one represents little prawns and fish quite well and takes its fair share of fish.

Neon Black 1" Basspro Grub, another when all else fails colour, really good in murky water.

Just a couple of colours, I included the make of softies, but the colours are usually available throughout most makes.
