Just wanting to get an idea as to what leader and tippets is everyone using when targeting bream. I'm finding it hard to get the combination of abrasion resistance, to minimise bust offs on the leases, as well as keeping the leader as inconspicuous as possible, to increase strike rate.

are you talking about fly or spinning,

Fly. i just use the 3.5 metre flurocarbon leader in 8- 10 pd

Spinning. i use anything from 4 - 12 pound flurocarbon on a sunny day and if its overcast i use mono, about a rod lenght is fine

hope that helps cheers Dan;)

I'm a fan of tapering the leader in three sections myself, which seems to work well enough on the six weight.

The first section is 8-10 kg mono (3-4 foot).

Second section is 4-6 kg mono (2-3 foot)

The business end of the leader is usually four pound fluorocarbon, about a foot long at most.

However, I am only casting light flies like BMSs, bream reapers, and gotchas ... and most of my bream fishing is on the flats.

I'm pretty sure though you'd have to modify depending on the area you're fishing.
