View Full Version : squidgy heads with gulp sp's
Hey guys,
Just went to buy some supplies and my shop was fresh out of tt jigheads in the weight and size that I wanted. Devastated. I had to settle for squidgy jig heads. Not product bashing, but in comparison to tt, they don't raise my confidence levels with big.fish in mind, I've just never liked the look of the barb that holds the placcy.
Anyway, my first query is will a squidgy jig head hold a gulp sp effectively with its wire hook thingy?
And secondly, are the hook sizes different between the two brands throughout the range? Squidgy 2/0 seems way bigger than tt 2/0. Maybe I'm a tard :)
Cheers
same DohDohDohDoh diff smell IMO
I find i do have to sharpen my hook points after they've been used a few times .. i use tt and squidgy jigheads interchangeably
slight diff in hook sizing too as you've noticed
both catch fush for me
No doubt they catch fish :)
Just curious as to whether the keeper on the squidgy jig head would hold a gulp as well as a tt keeper?

i have no problem hooking stonk bream with squidgy jigheads, they work well on wrigglers, although this year i have had the loop knot pop out of the jighead eyelet 3 times, all were big bream and left me devo.
Cant comment on them with gulps though sorry

They hold on fine mate. I've used normal and resin head squidgy jigs with gulp placcys and they're fine.
i actually prefer the squidgy style keeper to the tt !

Mate, if you're having trouble with the squidgy keepers just put a dab of super glue on the hook before you push the plastic on fully, always works for me :) If you're talking about the round ball heads, you'd be very surprised how strong they are! They look like a flexy piece of crap but I've caught 4Kg+ Salmon on them with no dramas. Btw all the squidgy jig heads are built on vmc's so your not getting no-name brands, i rate them with the tt's, nitro's gammas...what ever else.....

Don't leave them in the gulp packet!!! made that mistake once and the entire hook deterierated including the lead! But they are fine and people have been catching massive 1m+ jewfish on them for ages. TT are a great brand and the hooks are really nice but squidgy heads are just as good.

i use squidgy jig heads a fair bit caught 4kg+ silver trevally on them they just as good as the rest although the metal prong that keeps the plastic on does fall off after a couple of decent fish :)

Ive cought plenty of massive fish on the squidgies heads. Even Kings. I prefer the TT's

Ive staigtend squidgy heads hooks in the smaller sizes, try the new atomic seekers. They have an exelent keeper and a strong gamakatsu hook. Otherwize I use nitro or tt

i got what must have been a dodgy batch of squidgy heads and bent every last one of them on bream that were only just over legal size. Now i use tt heads exclusively and have never had an issue

I will seccond Gavs comment, I have seen the fish he catches and have cought kings on them before. The keeper is not as good for gulps as the TT's
I never use heavy wire hooks for bream unless trebbles.

I do the same, super glue works a treat. I will say though quality is better in TT etc, but as per the addage... you get what you pay for. For those on a budget the squidy's are just fine.

The squidgy heads are fine, not sure about the gulp though.
