Sustain 1000 or 2500

I can't decide whether to buy the sustain 1000 or 2500. The 1000 seems a bit too small for my liking, however i've heard highly of the little beast. So what should i buy?? It will be matching a BBB ian miller rod, ( those rods are very stiff as opposed to other 6'6" spinning rods, any idea why? )

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It depends on what type of fishing your going to do...if your just into bream than the 1000 will definately be an advantage coz of its size and weight, but the 2500 size wll be a better all rounder ;P

But for breaming, I really think a 2500 is really too big, and that BBB rod, if im not wrong is very light and the 2500 may not be the right reel for it...itcould be too heavy and hamper with feel, be a tad harder to strike and action etc...

Just comes down to what your going to use the reel for :p

Torvic just got in there with my very thoughts. Definately the 1000 size for Breaming. When you're casting hundreds of times in a session, the 1000 (because of it's light weight) will be a lot friendlier on your wrists. 2500 just seems overkill.

Do they make a 1500 in the sustain??

a BBB hey.......is that the senior stick with 3-6kg rating or the lighter one? I say go the smaller one. These reels are built tough with a great drag. I heard the smallest 2 can put out up to 4kg of drag. So theoretically U can fish with 12kg line. but since U'll be using it primarily for breaming, the smaller one definiately the go.
OR U could get both :D
one for a BBB senior and another for junior

The size of the 1000 spool scares me a bit, it's tiny!!

Torvic, i'm using the combo primarily for bream. The BBB is very light, however it's very stiff compared to other spinning rods.

Craig H - They don't make a 1500 in the new sustain FD models but they might in the old FB range.

Ar-hon - Definently the junior 2-4kg stick. I wish i could get both, but it's just too hard to afford them both at the moment.:(

Dan - What reel do you have matched with your BBB?? How do you find the casting with that rod??

Anyone know how the 1000 sustain casts??

G'day i have a new 2000a capricorn on my new bream buster. its a perfect size the smaller 1500 is the same size just has a smaller spool, so i went for the 2000a for more line , coz i use it for snapper ,sambos.kingies,and jewies.all with plastics and its fine, hope that helps (ohh yeh the casting is awsome)

I'm using the 1000 series sustain this year, and I've got it matched up to a 6'6" rod. I don't hink it would be too small, and the spool size is offset by the super slow oscilation rate.

I don't think the 2500 is too big, but the 1000 is an awesome little reel.

I put a 2500 capricorn on a 6-6 rod and found it was to big, looks goofy to, i was just checking to see, in my opinion i dont go bigger then 2000 for a bream reel.(mabey the sustain 2500 is small compared to the rest of the 2500 sized reels.)

I am using the stradic 1000 on my Strudwick and it is beautifully balanced. Light rod with a light reel a well matched outfit; to go to a bigger reel would upset that balance and be counter productive in my opinion.
