Bushy's new boat

Anyone seen bushy's new boat?
It was launched at the sydney boat show.
I just read an article he did on it and it looks like a really nice rig apparently it hasn't been launched up here in queensland yet, but I would really like a closer look.
Should give the hornet a run for it's money, this thing has a 3mm bottom too so the northerners might like a look.

I have seen the boat and happen to know a guy that has the brother boat same set up who has made the switch from a hornet and is very impressed havent had a ride in it yet but when the time comes to buy a new one might have to look at one

I wondered about the "philosophy" of his earlier boat that he seemed to feel so strongly about in the "Bream on lures" book and his other writing to date. The low windage of the previous Ally Craft hull (customised Manta 4.1 I think) and its light weight and lower power requirements and consequent low fuel usage and ease of handling on electric power, even in wind, plus ease and economy of towing, plus ease of launching and retrieving alone were all "key" things about that boat.

Now he goes and buys/has customised the "Queen Mary" of bream boats ;-)

He does always say that a high position at the front is important for sight fishing and I bet that is a great vantage point for polaroiding, but gee those high, slab sides are going to make handling on the electric and drifting an interesting affair in windy situations.

Plus the motor (80 HP?), even though a 4 stroke must surely use considerably more fuel than his previous much smaller one.
He states in the s p o r t s f i s h article that it refuses to use fuel, but really an 80 HP vs a 25 HP even going from a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke really must be quite a significant change.

Still, I reckon I could put up with the new Bushy boat, it would let me fish Corio Bay as well as local rivers. I'd christen it "The Bream Snapper" (just waiting for a rod bulder to use that as a name for a bream luring rod now). :-)

Yeah Like Bear said it's a ways a way from being widley available.
I talked to the guys at allycraft and they said they are flat out trying to fill orders in sydney and that it will be next year before it is even launched here in Queensland. Bit slack considering it is a Queensland company.

Anyway it looks like a real strong boat plenty of storage and power.

I tried to get an idea of price but no one wanted to guess, I think the shadow oasis was about 19,000 You may be looking at what 23-25,000 ? I guess. Due to the bigger motor and other features.

I will be definately be doing a strong comparison between it and the hornet when I look to upgrade.

Don't be misled into thinking any custom boat is going to be as cheap as a production model.

The fabrication work alone to make the layout as you want it is pretty much a full rebuild of the interior. To give you an idea of the individual costs for the Millard Bream Sensation:

Aluminium Fabrication - $2000
Marine Ply Decking, Fittings and Lining - $1000
Trimming and Carpet - $1000
Painting - $750
Plumbing and Electrics - $850
Batteries - $400
Flotation - $220

So as you can see, if you want a fully customised bream boat be prepared to part with additional dollars over and above what a standard production model is worth.

That being said, the Millard boat is only $1000 more than a standard 435 trophy with the same motor etc. When you add the 150 litre plumbed livewell, the two 7' rod lockers and the full walkaround deck, it's not hard justifying the additional dollars. It's functionality for tournament fishing is far above a standard 435 trophy...

Wonder if it comes with a Stick on Big bushy Moe?
